But Spurrier loves South Carolina, he's a Gamecock now

He always has been and always will be a Gator

Rumor is Foley asked him to apply for the job, and Spurrier said, "my resume' is in that trophy case."

This reminds me of Bama and Bobby Bowden. Now I'm sad. Thanks, a-hole.

it was a tongue and cheek comment because that was the rumor for when Spurrier came back to the college game. Florida was firing Ron Zook that same year

This is a bad idea. A guy like Spurrier will never truly embrace a role where he is not the BMOC and he will constantly give McElwain nightmares trying to one up him. I would not like this one bit if I were him. It would be like if Saban retired at Alabama, Bama hired an up and coming coordinator to be HC, and Saban stayed on staff as a "consultant." Hell no.

This would be the case with Saban. Mac is not wound nearly that tight and he loves having Spurrier around. He does not have a Napoleon complex.

Muschamp running everybody off. He'll set the cocks back, which is unfortunate because I'm a fan.

He does love SC. Why are you bragging like you stole him from us to be your HC while he was still coaching at SC. He is retired and going to his alma mater. No one blames him. I dont know what you think he is going to do at UF to make your football team better. If you expect a lot out of him, you will be let down.

I think the gumps have one of those mulligan trophies too. And they didn't even win the SEC title that year.

Lol. Please.

He is leaving for his alma mater where he met his wife, coached, and won a heisman. He is not going to play some huge role at UF or SC

Just wait until the first time Spurrier publicly criticizes something McElwain does or says "if it were me...." McElwain has a really tough rebuilding job ahead of him and he will need total support, not distractions like Spurrier will be.

Spurrier hasn't really criticized any of the Florida coaches since he has been gone that I am aware of. Now that he is retired, you think it will start a new trend? I'd like to know more Mr. Kreskin.

Fully agree. I actually hope that he has a more vocal role there than he did here in the ambassador role. Nothing funnier than Spurrier's quips!
