He was talking about Coach Bryant and not Pat Dye.
You know the drunk that lost his pants, wallet, car keys and school credit cards and doesn't remember doing it. Curious as who was living at the condos at lake martin where they were found and I guess time heals all wounds but you can check with pat's first wife and see if that is true.

That's why I stated that he was part of the '73 title team.
You said, "left in'73..I guess you could say he played a role". He coached the entire season right up until they lost to notre dame. Where the title was awarded before the bowl game. If that's a "guess", you have some problems.

Muschamp learned defense from Saban. Saban is head coach at what school at present. Years back it would have been Muschamp learned his craft from LSU , or Miami Dolphins coach but today it is an Alabama coach that is the professor and Muschamp the pupil. Not near the delusion of Pat Dye was the reason for Coach Bryants success.

" He drank himself to death worrying about Auburn."
Bryant 19-5 against Auburn could easily have been 21-3 if Auburn didn't have a horseshoe up their arse in their last 2 wins against Bryant 1972 and 1982 both by 1 point and was dominated statatistically. That would have been 1971-1982 win streak for Alabama. You all feared the man. Last game Auburn players ran past Pat Dye just to shake Bryants hand. He owned you. He should be referred to Papa Bryant he was your daddy.

What year should we expect you to claim Jimbo Fisher's BCSNC?

Yes, he has always been a zero.

Now you're just trying to argue semantics. Jesus. He was there in 1973. How was that not clear in my statement? The "guess" about his role on the 1973 team was rhetorical. Clearly he was, but TnM was trolling about Dye's impact on Bryant's program.

quote:yet you stated, I guess you could say he played a role. As if he had a small part because he left in '73, despite coaching the entire season. Again if thats a guess, then you have problems, and if thats "clearly he was[part of the '73 team]" as well, then I dont know what to tell ya.

I guess you could say Saban played a role in some of Alabama's national championships

Jesus Christ, man. You're actually arguing this? You're splitting split hairs. And then you try to sum it up with apples and oranges.

And for the sake of what has become an argument, Dye did take the East Carolina job on December 15, 1973. But of course that was never my original statement's intent. It was a bone being thrown over Dye's role and its importance to Bryant's program.

umm...it's a exact and direct comparison. You seem to be a bit off on this topic with your, "Guess", "clearly", and "Apples to oranges" As every application has been wrong

I merely called a spade a spade. You want to argue with me calling your original statement genuinely misleading, when it in fact was.

And promptly started drinking again about a month after finishing the program... And went on to win the next two National Championships ('78, '79). The man didn't have any quit in him.
Well he died so there is evidently a lot of quit in him.

That was the point. I see it one way. You see it another. End of story.
