I wouldn't say it eliminates rivals, but it certainly loses steam when it stops being competitive or interesting when it becomes incredibly one-sided and the main factor for the increased passion/hate becomes more of a distant memory (see the Fulmer nemesis factor).

Eventually, UT will win one and it will reignite to an extent, but you can't deny that a rivalry loses its luster when one of the teams stops being relevant in the match-up for a long time.

I agree the LSU "rivalry" has cooled considerably in the last several years for the same reason. Not sure if strawman or incorrect assumptions. Auburn is different due to more recent competitiveness, in-state component, and fairly recent controversy/dramatic games.

Ole Miss, Clemson and USC weren't at the same level as UT and Auburn, so a few wins here and there wouldn't create a rivalry, other than that in-the-moment revenge factor. You also play USC and Clemson once or twice a decade, so those are poor examples anyway.

As long as most of us are alive (I'm 32) that factor will never become a distant memory. Ever.

I asked a few Bama fans this weekend what Fulmer did and when, and they couldn't recall exactly, confusing his actions with the other things Bama did the last 25 years to get them in trouble. They just knew they hated him because he ratted them out for cheating.

Holding that grudge to the same intensity this long after the fact, and after a decade of that coach being gone, and subsequent to several national championships is not normal, FWIW. And yall give LSU fans shite for the Saban resentment, even though he's still active and beating the shite out of us annually.

Screw Tennessee. I revel in their misery. Beating them will never get old.

I hate Auburn and Tennessee more than anyone in college football. That won't change if we beat them 45 years in a row.

I don't know why that is so hard for people to understand.

SPOT ON. In fact, when Auburn and Tennessee play each other, I can't even find it in my heart to wish for a winner or loser. Not even a tie. I just pray that God will open up a huge crack in the ground Old Testament style and swallow the stadium whole during the first quarter.

Hasn't happened yet, but I keep praying.

Saban beat the shite out of you on the field. Saban didn't actively plot to destroy your program and tell your recruits that going to LSU would be a bad idea because it'd be "out of business" in a few years (regardless of what our moronic boosters were doing).

On top of that Tennessee was and is already our longest continuously played most historical rival and is the historic #2 school in the conference behind us. It's the game that Bryant approached and discussed as the most important game of the season.

Anybody who is a true Alabama fan that grew up an Alabama fan in an Alabama family hates Tennessee and visa versa. To be frank, we don't give a rats arse if the rest of the conference understands that or not.

Cut a deal, snitched, and hid like a coward as a "secret witness".

Tennessee is a disgusting university that deserves every bit of pain they have received.... and there's more coming.

It's early in the week, but make no mistake: Tennessee can suck shite off their grandmother's chest, through a straw, and die an agonizing death by septicemia that resulted from shoving wine boxes up their asses.

I will not be satisfied with letting them welsh out of the rivalry until they crawl on their knees to midfield and beg for it and then allow every UA grad from 1995 - 2005 to kick them in the balls as hard as they wish (I got two UA degrees during that period, so I demand two kicks).

At that point, I would consider not calling it a rivalry, but the chances are pretty slim that I would let it go. Seriously, 10rc can DIAF and burn in Hell.

arse-raping, road-worker wearing, fat-arse piece-of-shite Phil Fulmer loving, Sergeant Carter's twinky twin brother coached, mangy leg-humping dog loving, sister fingering, toothless, shoeless, sons of bitches.

Check with me on Friday. I'm liable to be really fired up about them by that point.

Everyone ITT is pretending, this is now a meaningless fixture just like it has been for the last decade and likely will be for the following decade

It’s LSU jealousy. We will never care about them as much as they do us.

You say that because you're whipped. Keep biting your daddy's pillow. This isn't over by a long shot.
