UGA is appealing, per 247

ETA- this is what you get for playing ball with the NCAA. How we didn't learn from the AJ Green debacle is beyond me

I am really shocked a bammer would drag Cam into this situation instead of the numerous players from their own school that have actually been proven to accept improper benefits

Cost him a Heisman and a potential national championship for UGA if we lose to Florida or Kentucky.

You should be able to beat those two teams without Gurley.

Me too. Because they have never proven Cam took anything. So it's apples and oranges.

I hope so but you never know. At least we get him back before the Barners.

I bet he feels pretty shitty now.

If that happens, he won't play again. He'll train for the Combine instead of returning to the field.

Drag Cam into it? You do realize Cam was "reinstated" just like this, right?

IF he decides to play. It wouldn't surprise me if he just said 'frick it' and sat out.

Auburn declared Newton ineligible Tuesday and requested his eligibility be reinstated.

The point was in response to being ineligible forever. Cam is a perfect example that you just have to make a player ineligible then ask the NCAA for reinstatement.

I wouldn't think he would do that. Don't think that would help his potential draft stock.

I thought once you gave up your amateur status, you couldn't get it back?

Look at it as an internship.

UGA ended their investigation with only 400. That's why we didn't request reinstatement until after we thought he served the full two games.

UGA is appealing and to be honest, we must have a case because normally this is something UGA would pucker up and bite the pillow on. I'm cautiously optimistic for UK, but it's too late for UF because they sat with the papers on their desk for a week.

As compared to players like Marcel Dareus, Brandon Gibson, and Ha Ha Clinton Dix from Alabama who actually accepted improper benefits and were reinstated after receiving shorter suspensions than Gurley

Shame on us for thinking the NCAA would do anything but bend us over again. I hope our AD will have finally learned that the NCAA is not our friend and they only have as much power as we give them.

But the NCAA couldn't prove Cam took anything, whereas there is no dispute Gurley did. So Cam never surrendered his amateur status.

It actually sets up well IMO for UGA. We'll have a rested & healthy TGII(hopefully PO'ed) & Sony Michel back along with a now experienced bowling ball in Nick Chubb for the AU game at home in Sanford Stadium, hopefully at night...

You get him back for the most important game for clinching the East. Sounds like the NCAA made a pretty fair judgement, the rule itself sucks, but there must have been plenty of corroboration or an admission from Gurley. This may help him in the long run, less mileage as he enters the pros.

it could and couldnt. He is pretty much already rated a high pick and as a RB with pretty much one less season on him, it adds to his longevity in the pros.

FWIW, He plays
