How is it smart to take a pay cut of close to a mil to stay at a school where the athletes won't come to get you over the Final 4 hump?

When was the last time Bama had better athletes in BBall compared to Wichita St? 2012? Who has been better since then?

Last time Bama has been to a final four. Please shut up about economics. Marshall has the make of a 6 million dollar coach at IU.

Hes a king in Wichita with an easy path to the tourney each year

Hes holding out for the UK job when Cal bails for the NBA

The offer was much more than the money, full control of the program with free reign, an unlimited recruiting budget and an opportunity to be in the national spotlight with a lot of games on the SEC Network

He would've done well here, but alas

I'm not too confident in BB so far...if his next target is Pitino Jr I'll be spitting nails mad

Money yes. National spotlight no, I'd venture to say 25% of Bama fans even give one thought to Bama BBall. Its the same with LSU.

Kellen Marshall @KelMoney24 Hey everyone! After a long wait, a "source" tells me that my dad is staying at Wichita State!!! Kellen Marshall @KelMoney24 Hope my "source" helps put an end to this endless string of (sometimes false) rumors. My family & I are so happy to stay in #ShockerNation

Dumb kid. If the rumors were false, pops wouldn't have just doubled his salary. Tweet about Xbox or something.

Im sure they will be grateful for it. Plus the revenue that it brings in for athletics in the SEC will help.

But yall don't need a 4 million dollar coach to get yall there. At the moment Bama cannot get those coaches in BBall. You need a good coach that can put players in the position to win. Its nothing against yall its the nature of the beast. LSU couldn't, we didnt even try. AU found a desperate one. USC found one that was tired of his admin.

No one outside of UK and Arky can. Its the nature of the football beast.

Absolutely. Kudos to Bama for going big.

This is the last raise Marshall can get at WSU.

That's silly. They didn't get the top available college coach in the world. That's all. There's plenty of other good coaches out there available and they'll get a good one (at least by reputation).

But visiting friday with the fam.

But bama is the better job, participation ribbons.

But Bama would win a bidding war with lowly WSU.

He was supposed to be Nick Saban's new BFF...and live in the same neighborhood.

Whats wrong with that statement? They cant get the top college BBall coaches in the game ATM. Its not a knock to Bama. If you want a top coach you have to have a proven program, Bama is not.

LSU went through this with football until Saban. LSU BBall never got there. This is how college coaching works.

You either find a coach that gets you there; see UF with Spurrier and Billy D, or LSU with Saban.

This is even more true in BBall than ever.

You said Bama couldn't get a coach that would put players in a position to win. That's false.

Read it again. I said they need a coach like that. Of course I think Marshall could, but they havent achieved that level in a long time.

Edit. My sentence structure is fricked in that above post. Sorry for the confusion.

Maybe you should edit it to what you meant to say.

ETA: it appears it's just poorly worded. All good.
