Ritter is as pure as the driven snow, so it is inconsequential where he matriculated.
He's the best Ref in the conference.

The problem is not that he necessarily always calls more or more questionable penalties on LSU in the Bama game. He calls more penalties on LSU than he does any other team on average. He calls almost twice as many penalties on LSU compared to all other crews. Add in that there have been some controversial calls in the Bama series, notwithstanding the total calls in each team (since most calls are legit). Some just hate it when he calls any of our games, because of his well established and documented tendency to let the other team play more than LSU, on average.
I doubt there is any correlation to us losing more games that he's called when compared to the average, so I'm not too hung up on it, but I'd still rather he be elsewhere on Saturdays.

He's a Bama Alumni. No one should ref any of the games of the school they attended...doesn't seem that hard to comprehend.
I agree with this.

He's not a Bama alum, and I'm not sure why people would keep that rumor going without checking into it first.

Oh bullshite Juice. It is common knowledge that Ritter went to Bama and that his daughter is a student there now.

So the problem isn't so much that he's a bammer, it's that he just hates him some LSU, then.

REFEREE: What would you say as a referee is your toughest call?
RITTER: You know it’s managing the holding that we see play in play out, and trying to gauge the impact that that hold has on a play and whether or not it’s worthy of a foul.
Uh huh

Is this a serious question?

A big problem with him is he likes his crew to be too involved in the game and that's not a good thing.
It would be better if he was nowhere near Tuscaloosa on November 7th.

He was one of the crew that called this incomplete late in the 4th quarter

Yeah, because I'm not seeing it from an LSU perspective.
From a Bammer perspective, he is to refereeing as bloody diarrhea is to shite.

Totally the correct call, if I do say so myself. :coco2:
Seriously, though, you can't use that particular call as evidence of a bias in favor of Bama against LSU while simultaneously disregarding horrible calls and non-calls against us.
That's the textbook definition of a confirmation bias.

I heard from LSU fans that Ritter was spotted in the toilet with these on right after a game.

Ritter is a good person. I don't think his crew really has a bias towards one team or another, but I will say that his games seem to take forever.

I wouldn't argue that at all. In fact, I'd say he's probably a pretty cool guy to kick back and watch a game (preferably one in which a different crew is officiating) with.

Kige agrees with this.

The tendency seems to be that they're over-officiated. Unfortunately, refereeing is one of those "can't please everyone" jobs, and here in the South where we take our football very seriously (deadly seriously in the case of us Bammers), that kind of thing really stands out.
