Is his presence as the referee in the Alabama-LSU game as significant a factor as the LSU fans say? Have there been a number of controversial calls that justify the concern?

This is my first post on the SEC Rant and I'm excited to see Leonard Fournette and the Alabama defense have a go at each other.

Most people would agree that he's just another example of bad SEC officiating, but some think he's an REC plant.

I will interject and say I don't mind him. I'll move my insecurity elsewhere now.

Oh yes, I've got a secret... Shhhh... The REC sends out a Bham refs bonus check every November that gets cashed and is earned during the game. Ritter is the lead man in distribution of said checks to the other refs. Now this is top secret, fall up some stairs if you tell anyone else type stuff. So if you value your trees and forehead you will not report this to the fbi, cia or homeland security, doj or the state banking department.

Say 10 roll tides, Bear Bryant is your hero and Saban is your god to worship in Saturdays. RTR

I have heard that the SEC has some of the worst officiating in football but this Tom Ritter guy has really had his name thrown around recently. It makes it more interesting if nothing else; I'll definitely be paying more attention to the officiating crew than I would otherwise just to see if anything actually happens.

He was the head referee in 6 of Alabama's last 10 SEC losses, including Bama's last loss to LSU.

The SEC does have bad officiating.

Some people around here do have a persecution complex.

Internet message boards do promote groupthink.

Probably the best ref the SEC has ever seen.
Also a Bama alum, his daughter goes to Bama, he sells Bama merchandise, and he is a Fraternity brother of Bill Battle, Alabamas Athletic Director.

I love that man. He is a hero in Alabama and most Bama fans have his picture on their mantel.

He's actually not that bad in LSU-Alabama games, it's just every other game he calls LSU in that he gets so flag-happy.

He's pretty shitty to Alabama too, just not as bad as he is to LSU.

I don't take this as seriously as some so I'll just watch with more of an eye to the officiating than I otherwise would simply out of curiosity.
