Ok, changed my mind. Here it is.
"Targeting/Initiating Contact With the Crown of the Helmet
ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6.)
Defenseless Player: Contact to Head or Neck Area
ARTICLE 4. No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6)."
These are the only rules in the book that mention helmet to helmet contact, and even the dumbest Auburn fan can see that Dial's hit doesn't fit ether description.

If the Murray hit was called and the AJ hit was not called it could have been the difference. Murray call made Bama may not have got the FG. AJ call not made Bama may not have scored. Bama fans might have burned Ritter's house down and Slive would have helped.
What is it about the fact that the rules treat McCarron as a defenseless player because he just released a pass, but not Murray because he was now a defender pursuing a ballcarrier in a half-assed fashion?

why is this an 8 page thread? Ok, it was a cheap shot. it's football, plenty of cheap shots all over the field that are never seen. lineman poking eyes, for example.
but if any of you really believe this non call was the difference in the outcome of the game, id like for you to tell us how the tipped non tipped ball for a negated Pass interference, then next play blocked FG, wasnt a outcome changer.

Whether it was the QB or not (and defenceless means nothing here) shouldn't matter but yeah I agree, flag him for 15 and move on. It's utterly absurd (and completely predictable) that the rantards are acting like targeting QB's on an interception return isn't a regular fricking occurrence.
