Major, major differences.

-MSU returned a QB that couldn't throw for shite
-MSU lost their DC before this year
-MSU had no really good receivers
-MSU doesn't have a lot of talent
-MSU finished 5th in their division coming into the year.

All of things cannot be said about Georgia going into 2012.

And we have continued to over achieve, losing all our games with the exception of UGA by less than 10 points. You hve stellar classes and are the poster children for underachievement.

If Florida, UGA or USC played in the west instead of the least y'all would have no beter record than we do right now.

no denying uga's success tied to sos. that includes having to go all out to barely beat the worst uf team in forever.

speaking of uf. i'm convinced by y'all hiring one of ray goff's jewels y'all imported the curse.

Can you describe how we went "all out"?

We blew coverage on their first TD, threw a pick inside our own 30, and basically chose not to cover the KO on their other TD. We didn't do a bunch of trick plays or wild shenanigans, we calmed down, played better, and won. I fail to see how we went "all out".

Oh. Well UF's 06 national title team only beat one of our crappiest teams by 7, which happened because we fumbled inside our 20 that they returned for a TD.

Who cares? It's still a win and still counts the same.

First off, I might agree with you if UGA hadn't dominated the USC game only to give it away to USC.

Second, until UGA manages to win about 3 in a row in Jax they aren't playing any one UF team. They are playing twenty years worth of UF teams.

Having watched UGA all season, it is the OL that is truly holding them back from going to the next level this year. Well, that, and an epic ST implosion. Oh, and I am sure that you probably didn't take into account that UGA's actual starting D hasn't in fact managed to play a game together this year for one reason or another.

For everyone dogging the schedule and the wins over sub 500 teams. Bama has beaten exactly 1 team with a winning record in the SEC- Arkansas. Face it, there are 6 teams in the whole SEC that have winning records- USC, UGA, Ark, Au, Bama, and LSU. Pretty much everyone is beating up on crappy teams this year.

Georgia fans should be excited. They should not have lost to SC and they just got beat by a top 5 Boise team. When USCe gets beat by Arkansas then UGA will win the East and play for a SEC championship this year. That's a lot to be excited about. They aren't last years Mississippi State.

Highly disagree. These kids don't GAS what happened in the 90s when it was spurrier against Goff/Donnan. Let's look back starting with Richt's first win.

04-we won
05-we were better but DJ was out and we had to play JT. Do yall think auburn would've beat bama last year if Cam didnt' play?
06-They were clearly the better team and won by 7.
07-we were better, and won
08-they were much better and won
09-they were much better and won
10-both teams sucked and but they won in OT
11-we were better, and won

It wasn't necessarily the case early under Richt (02, 03 for example) but recently the better team has typically won. I don't chalk that up to any sort of head games or weight of the ghosts of UGA/UF past...I chalk it up to the better team coming out on top.

5th in the West division is much different than that in the East. How would Georgia stack up in the West?

p.s. I like Georgia. Just asking a hypothetical.

as for the 20 yrs of history: you can analyze and spin all you want WG, but the bottom line is since 1990 we have beaten uf exactly 4 times. that included 2/3 losses to zook, as i'm sure you know.

even richt came out and said that this circumstance caused him to try different approaches to preparation for uf. if that doesnt qualify as a team 'being in your head', i dont know what does.

so i agree with the notion that until we put a string together against uf, we are playing against recent history. hopefully having muschamp there will help.

this year it just happened to be a PITIFUL edition and even with that the issue was in doubt until the acrobatic first down catch by conley.

so i'm very happy that we are winning and the howling has subsided, and the future looks bright, but i harbor no illusions that this 2011 team is really that good.

Bama has gone 5-0 vs SEC Teams Those teams are 6-19 in the SEC.

LSU has gone 5-0 vs SEC Teams. Those teams are 7-19 in the SEC.

UGA has gone 5-1 vs SEC Teams. Those teams are 9-23 in the SEC.

Using the schedule argument is tired and overrated.
