I see Georgia fans are starting to get excited again - just like 2007 after beating Florida.

But just like 9-4 MSU from last year, who only beat 2 teams over .500, I think UGA fans are jumping the gun here.

UGA has now won 6 games and lost 2.

The 6 wins are against

coastal Carolina
2-6 Ole Miss
4-4 MSU
3-5 Tennessee
4-4 Vandy
4-4 Florida

MSU, Vandy, Tennesse, and Florida all have a shot at just being above .500 at the end of the year. None of these teams will probably reach more than 7 wins though, barring a miracle.

Depending on what happens with GT and Auburn, UGA could potentially go through the season without beating a team that wins more than 7 or 8 games.

Really, what has UGA done to get excited besides beat creampuffs?

The best total offense they've beaten is #74 MSU.

Ole Miss is #103, Vandy is #106, UT is #102, and Florida is #94...

Well at least they've beaten multiple teams in their division though.

UGA gets a pretty easy schedule next year too. See nothing in the East that says any of the teams are gonna be elite next year. They go to Bama, but the Tide is losing a shite ton of people after this season. They have to come to Auburn, but the Tigers are bi-polar as hell. They don't have to play LSU or Arky. And their OOC is easy. I could easily see a 10 or 11 win season for them.

Major, major differences.

-MSU returned a QB that couldn't throw for shite
-MSU lost their DC before this year
-MSU had no really good receivers
-MSU doesn't have a lot of talent
-MSU finished 5th in their division coming into the year.

All of things cannot be said about Georgia going into 2012.

Neither did they have Mike Bobo incessantly calling the same 5 plays from the 1945 offensive play book.

They will lose to Tennessee and USC next year. This is their chance at the east.

Right, they had Mullen calling the same 3 plays from the 1970 playbook

that's not what the OP is trying to compare. He's just talking about this year's team vs. State's team from last year. Amirite? FWIW, he has a decent point. They are similar in a lot of ways.

I think this was in response to my 2012 Georgia thread. Basically, he's saying that Georgia this year and MSU from last year look good due to weak schedules but really aren't good and will falter next year.

A lot? No..a few maybe but like I said in my first post of the thread we are on MUCH better footing heading to 2012 than they were going into this year.
