Oh, and Coach Stallings might want to come in out of the Texas sun a bit.

Ridiculous. Makes as much sense as having football players judge gymnastics matches. Why not have Mike Tyson determine which history books 10th graders should use? If you're against that, you're racist.

Get rid of the committee, persuade the AP, FWAA and Coaches to vote on the Tuesday after Championship Saturday, use the top 4 aggregate. More representative and don't have to worry about someone getting paid on the side.

you could take 4 people who have never watched a game of college basketball in their life. Give them the criteria for the NCAA tournament selection process, and they'd probably get 66 of the 68 teams right.

Again, if you think Rice is incapable of picking four teams to compete in a college football playoff, you may not be racist or sexist, but you're definitely ignorant.

Do you want some random non expert probably making the right multi billion decision for your company or a person who specializes and is an expert in the field?

I think some of the more traditional folk need to shift the ground of this argument. All you have to say is that you don't see any reason that a woman couldn't be on the committee, you are just opposed to having one on the committee just for the sake of having one.

I think the real issue would be diversity for diversity's sake. If an accomplished woman who knows the game can contribute and is the best option, that's great. Disqualifying a woman because she didn't coach when no one has ever hired a woman coach (and the critics are at institutions that haven't hired a black coach) is ridiculous.

Actually that's the problem with this process. It isn't baseball or basketball where if you get team #65 wrong, well who cares. It's only 4 teams, in a 3 game format that is worth over half a billion dollars (in 2014....this will go up considerably).

People do that all the time in management positions in the business sector.

That would be a legitimate argument if they were complaining as much about the other people on the committee who don't have football experience.

Her IQ is far superior to anyone else on that committee, and also in particular, Dye and Stallings. She is more than capable, and perhaps less biased, than many on the committee. Do you think Archie, who is on the committee, will ever give LSU a fair shake? No way. Further, she is not an elected official as someone on this board asserted.

It's the only reason the racist/sexist comments are applicable. I tend to lean towards ill-informed or ignorant.

What's funny is coaches are some of the dumbest, irrational people and their thought processes are on display routinely. How often have you seen a coach mess up a simple clock management decision? How often do they make sub-optimal strategic choices. For instance, on fourth and one or two from the one or two (assuming no exigencies like end of game situations etc.), the correct decision statistically based on expected points per play is to go for it. Coaches rarely do that. The evidence is overwhelming as to what the correct decision is. The coaches blow it routinely. Yet, they have the expertise, they argue, to make a huge decision when most of them struggle routinely to manage one club.

B/c he is wrong. They aren't breaking down the teams to play against. They are simply looking at who is more deserving for a 4 team playoff. You don't need to have coached to do that.

Well, anyone here or any one of the millions of college football fans is qualified to be on the committee wouldn't you say?

Since that is the case, why would we give credence to the committee's judgement?
