Off season thread.
Now that it's been a few years, how could a coach actually win a national championship then be fired two seasons later? I thought he would be there for decades.

When you let the inmates run the prison, you won't be the warden for long.

He had the best QB in the history of college football.

And now he's pissing me off all over again since I'm a Falcons fan.

I'm honestly surprised AAMU didn't pull an Eli Jenkins on them that year.

After Newton and Malzahn left he tried to convert his offense to a pro style and did not have the personnel for it (see UF for failed offensive conversions...). They went south quick.
And FWIW, that is not my analysis. Saw it on a talk show a year or so ago so you are not the only one that had that question...

Cam Newton left. Auburn loses to clemson, LSU, Kentucky and alabama without him that season. I don't know of anybody that thought chizik had anything to do with that title.

I've always wondered how good MSU would've been with him that season because they finished top 15 without him and with Chris Relf at QB instead.

Yeah well even at our lowest points we don't lose to mid majors. Might get taken to OT, but only one P5 team in this state actually loses.
Louisiana-Monroe
Utah
Northern Illinois
Louisiana Tech x2
Central Florida
Southern Miss

When did Bama lose to N. Illinois and C. Florida?

Is there also a flag for this flying proudly atop Jordan-Hare?

We lost to UCF during our wonderful 2000 season.
