Affording it and being stupid enough to pay it are two totally separate things... could LSU afford to fire LM and staff?... sure... But it would be irresponsible.

LSU is all in on football and wants to be great.

They are willing to roll the dice.

It may work, it may not. Who knows?

But TAF and the admins are willing to try.

I love Bama fans trying to downplay this program. We've been successful as any school in the 21st century.

Plus, wouldn't Bama want us to be good? As much as they've lost to us since 2000, I'd hope for their sake we'd at least be a decent little program down there in BR.

You don't get it. We're not talking the best historical programs, we're talking the most relevant. Notice, Nebraska isn't in that list.

These have been the greatest 15 years in the history of the lsu football program. Ever. The greatest era in their history. And miles has been coach for 10 of those years. Let's quit acting like lsu is a blue blood cfb program. They're not. They are exactly what they are right now historically. Getting rid of Miles is a huge mistake and lsu may get a change they wil come to regret

I didn't claim Alabama started being relevant in 2009.

I hope you do fire Les. Just so you guys will realize your program isn't what you think it is once you're on your 5th choice and you settle for some OC out of the ACC.

I know that was directed to someone else, but feel free to discuss both programs in their entireties. A truly great program shouldn't have to resort to cherrypicking time frames.

That's the reason OP started this thread, so he could show that statement.

Not saying I love the guy, but his quote is dead on in explaining the situation.

Nobody is comparing programs or hardware here. Nobody is arguing Bama has a better history than LSU.

But to act let LSU is not a power player NOW is asinine.

He doesn't get that part.

TAF would pay the buyout.

But he nailed it with the statement I quoted.

So when he says something you agree with then he is right but when he says something you don't then he is wrong.

I guess we can get an idea where L5U stands in the grand scheme of things after they make the hire.

He was factually wrong here, the university doesn't pay for the buyout. The school and system don't lose a cent with the buyout.

Private boosters in TAF will pay for it.

So, I disagree with the statement he got wrong.....because it was incorrect and can't be disputed.

I also agree with his opinion on the LSU coaching situation.

Interesting comment. You do remember Dennis Franchione, Mike Price and Mike Shula, don't you?

I think it's a roll of the dice but I see where LSU fans are coming from.

However, they can never, ever say anything about anyone else firing their coach, not after Les's success.

Jimbo Fisher is a long shot. LSU is a step up on facilities, maybe, but that's about it. FSU to LSU is a lateral move, at best. That's not slight at LSU--that's just how "elite" Bowden made them and they've proven they can win again. I wouldn't leave FSU in his position for anywhere else--including Bama.

Patterson? That's a home run. Not sure why he's still there.
