That is because although Bama and LSU hate each other they still have respect.

If I was not a Bama fan I'd be an LSU fan. I like their style.

Hell, let's add the 34 to 32, 2001 Tennessee-Florida game

That was an exciting game... BUT "The Game Of The Century" was called that BEFORE the game was played......

consider a Heisman trophy and a top 5 national finish to be pretty significant.

It's pretty sad when that's your measuring stick. It's sad that your biggest win in a decade (bama 2012) won you zero titles.

Still, the Alabama-LSU games will fall short to the ultimate title game filled with NFL talent: Ohio State-Miami at the Fiesta Bowl for the 2003 BCS Championship, which closed the 2002 season. On that night at Sun Devil Stadium, 52 future NFL draft picks saw the field, 37 of which were starters. Plus, 18 players from that game went in the first round.

Still find that to be crazy.

It's called that on the Rant because that was the last time LSU was significant

This. Which makes it even more astounding that UT at College Station, with their $5 million coach, new facilities, and all, has lost 3 in a row to an irrelevant program. Ags are like the Vandy or Kentucky of the west, but with more self esteem issues.

Tennessee's had 18 starters that started that night drafted in the NFL draft. The other 8 that played in the game:

Travis Stephens - He was main kickoff returner and had 36 return yards that game

Travis Henry - played but had no carries or receptions

These two only led the Vols in rushing in 1998 after Jamal Lewis went down.

Now we are are up to 20.

Dominique Stevenson - "saw action in all but 1 quarter" - 21 tackles, 2 TFLs, 3 pass deflections, special teams starter

Will Overstreet - 4th on team with 10 QB hurries, 14 tackles, 3 sacks. He is in the game at the 15:00 minute mark

David Martin - backup to Peerless Price

Andre Lott, backup to Steve Johnson - surely you don't think he played every down vs. the Fun n Gun in a game that went to OT or do you? He is#30 on the starting kickoff coverage unit at the 17:50 mark

Fred Weary - backup DT, appears at the 32:35 mark of the game as #95

Teddy Gaines - 1 tackle vs. Florida

I'll have to find something definitive on Martin. So far we are up to 25 for Tennessee + 20 for Florida for a total of 45.

Only 45 draft picks on those two teams?

Has there been a game with more? Has there ever been a game that had more players make an NFL team not just get drafted?
