Yes, only 45. Tennessee and Florida had 53 draft picks from the 1998 game.

At least y'alls position group fap threads are centered around the present. This trash talk is just sad.

i know some loved it, but it was a miserably boring game, imo. it being called anything more than 'defensive game of the year' was ridiculous.

Like someone said earlier, it was tagged that before it was even played. This was due to the fact that both of these teams were so far ahead of everyone else that year in terms of talent.

How often do you get two of the biggest, baddest teams in the same division of the same conference meet with everything on the line. Sure, there have been some 1s vs. 2s, but never had there been two that were so far ahead of everyone else in the entire nation.

Regardless of how many points were scored, it was of monumental importance.

And then Alabama got a re-match, which was nice.

I've got 48 total players drafted from Florida and Tennessee from 2002-2005. That includes players that obviously didn't participate in the 2001 game. So yeah, he's making shite up.

I laughed at all the teams with spread offenses that were dying to play LSU and Bama that year. LSU took out West Va in Morgantown and Oregon at a neutral site, the defense was sick that year.

38 is just Tennessee of which is a larger number than what they had drafted off that team.

Please add up 1999-2002 drafts. Thanks in advance.

That was a boring game to watch. I don't care how much talent was on the field.

so you're counting players who redshirted in 98 and didn't even step on the field?

Wouldn't players who actually saw action on the field be a more impressive number to talk about?

Well, he was saying the 1998 game, but still. He is saying total from the teams...including reshirts, guys that didn't play, etc. The 45 number was guys that actually saw the field in the GOTC and when you figure guys just one the team at that time, it dwarfs the 1998 game.

Alabama had 44 on the three deep alone sign "pro contracts".

Why do you keep changing the argument?

The 1998 Tennessee-Florida game was by far the better game.

20-17 in OT, first OT for both schools.

Even the 1999 Tennesee-Florida game was worlds better than.

23-21 Florida (came down to a 4th and 1 with 1 minute left).

Well dumbass those games were played last century so feel free to call which ever you please the game of last century.

You can then take 4 from Tennessee's since Haynesworth left early and Henderson was a Prop 48, and Stallworth left early that were not on the field that night. I'm sure there may be 1 other guy drafted in 2002 that didn't play that night or was redshirted.

Same reason the following were called games of the century:

1972 Nebraska-OU
1991 FSU-Miami
1993 ND-FSU
1968 Harvard -Yale
1996 UF-FSU
2006 OSU-Mich
1966 ND-Mich State
1969-Texas-Arkie

Both undefeated, ranked high if not 1-2 in the polls. There will be another one sometime in the near future.

you're right- i remember hearing it 50,000 times before the game was played and maybe that hooplah only made it more boring to watch.

it shouldn't have been billed as such tho, regardless. it was one game, one season nothing 'century' about it.

It's because every argument he changes to, we catch him and prove him wrong again. It's the only way he can try to save face. Never give you a clear target to shoot for.

The number for 1999-2002 is still only slightly higher at 55. Which includes players that didn't participate in the game. Some that weren't even on either team in 1998.

The 45 for Alabama-LSU is actual participants in the game.

I'm counting at least 48 that signed NFL contracts in some capacity from the 2011 LSU roster.

55 minus the 4 I mentioned for Tennessee and then minus 3 for Florida (Mike Pearson, Lito Sheppard, and Jabar Gaffney) and then still gets you to 48 with a margin of error for 3 more that may not have participated in the game.

Just no. As I said, cbs sports has already done this. The only game with more draft picks that have played during the game is Ohio state Miami.
