And a vet school. Our students have to go out of state for both.

no kidding. It's true that there is no dental school in the state of Arkansas. A dental student at UT dental school in Memphis said they have to hold out so many slots for Arky residents because that state did not have a dental school

Y'all don't have a vet school? Wow... I thought all southern states had vet schools.

I really don't think money will be a major factor in his decision. I think he'll take whatever job interests him the most.

Despite the Arky jokes, there is alot of money in Arky for a state no one thinks of as being wealthy., Not just Walton money, either which is gigantic as anyone would imagine.

They can bank roll a game changing hire with pocket change.

Do I need to pull out the dental disease/tooth loss by state chart again?

Getting more confident by the second. Although if everything people with sources said was true Dana Altman would have been fired here in Arkansas and DGB would have been in red for the spring game...

I just don't get Tennessee or Arkansas fans' infatuation with a coach that has three years total as an assistant at the college level, and none since 1991. If I was starting a NFL franchise, he's the first guy I call. He's not the guy I'm writing a blank check to in order to compete in the SEC.

I mostly want him for the recruiting boost to be honest. Surely with lots of talent he could win games.

True and I believe (don't quote me on this) that LSU's vet school does the same. It may have moved to Oklahoma.

You would be shocked at the money here, it makes me sick/jealous sometimes. The challenge, all of those donors with big $$$ are very, very demanding. Some of them, I simply downright hate. (I am a lifelong resident of Benton County, Bentonville is the county seat).

Damn. I mean, I wasn't implying there's not a ton of money. I figured there was. But when you make a guy the highest paid coach in the country, you're sending a pretty clear message to everyone else. And it also can sometimes ruffle the feathers of other admins that suddenly now have to start restructuring what they are going to offer their coaches. Universities like Bama can get away with it because it's expected. This is going to be interesting.

Holy crap. If this turns out to be true, Arky is way more financially set than I thought when it comes to athletics, and they are going to throw a monkey wrench into any coaching contracts that are coming up.

Looks like for the SEC that these teams are the most valuable since 2009 and the 2 yr increase in value:

LSU 96 mil - 12% increase; Profit 47 mil
Bama 93 mil - 1% increase; Profit 45 mil
Uga 90m mil - 7% increase; Profit 53 mil
Flagship 89 mil - 57% increase; Profit 37 mil

It just blows my mind that with all of that money from WalMart, they haven't built something like a dental or vet school.

First off, let me start by saying I don't think Gruden is coming to Arkansas.

I think Long has just let that rumor continue to help hide who he is really looking at.

But I've always thought Gruden was better suited for coaching in college.

He is a no-nonsense my way or the highway type coach when dealing with players, he is a high energy type coach and is very good at developing young players.---All the makings of a great Head Coach.

IMO, our fanbase is reeling from the BMFP firing. They are grasping at names bigger than Petrino. IMO, I think we still go interim route and then hire in December. But, I'll have to wait and see if that holds true.
