Correct, we're still far and away the most elite program in the SEC though.

Saban got beat down in every game he coached in 2007. Just ask the NCAA

The NCAA has no record of any beat downs. We vacated 7 whole wins, and all 6 of our losses were by 7 points or less. SEC Games:

Lost by 3 in OT to UGA
Lost by 7 to National Champ LSU
Lost by 5 to MSU
Lost by 7 to Auburn

Not bad for the least talented Bama team in 40 years. You bitches should have known you were about to be in for a world of hurt.

I've got one.

Shaun Touey, the dad from Blindside, is an Ole Miss booster and a large reason Saban was ever at LSU. He was good friends with Sexton, mentioned to Sexton that LSU should look at Saban, and we all know the rest is history.

Thank you for getting this thread on track. My apologies for missing it until now. Good story.

Auburn hasn't beaten Alabama by more than 10 points since 1969.

Tulane, which left the SEC in 1966, claims 3 outright / shared SEC football titles. MSU and Kentucky combined have 3.

If you were born when MSU last won the SEC Football Championship, (1941) you've nearly reached the age of the average life expectancy for a US male. (76 years.) Though in fairness, MSU can claim an SEC West title and an SEC Football Championship game appearance, which their in state rivals can't.

Only 2 SEC schools have sent both their men and women to the Final Four in the same season. Not UK.
LSU in 2006, and UGA in 1983.

You left out the part about most of those stats coming against the weak teams. Over that time Bama has lost as many games against top 10 teams as it has won.

Well let’s just say what most people think about the University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa branch. Its football pursuits justify its identity with an uneducated backward white population and a symbolic link to the Lost Cause they hold so dear. Much in the same way as D.W. Griffith’s movie The Birth of a Nation encouraged the worst elements of southern society a hundred years ago UAT football encourages a similar backward behavior from a large segment of its fan base. Football has stalled UAT’s transformation into a modern university with intellectual, aesthetic or humanistic concerns. UAT fans overestimate the “esteem” of being the last college football factory.

History has shown that UAT fans defend the indefensible, deny the undeniable and are thus driven by extreme emotion into delusions and unconscionable actions. Even Nick Saban contributes to the lunacy by comparing UAT losing a football game to the Pearl Harbor and 911 tragedies when thousands of Americans lost their lives. The question is, would the NCAA actually do UAT a favor by handing down the Death Penalty for its football team? Then finally UAT faculty, alumni and students might appreciate the scholarship and learning that mark a university with intellectual fiber and integrity. Indeed until that time “roll tide” is the mortifying apology for those without individual self-respect or dignity.

Also UAT’s misplaced priorities of gold-plated football fluff over economic substance harm the state’s growth and development. The Crimson Tide football team is outlet for their lunatic fringe fans such as Paul Finebaum, Jay Barker, Harvey Updyke, John Phillips, Brian Downing, the Sugar Bowl “lady” et al and gives them a venue to be recognized. The abovementioned misfits are the predictable by-product of UAT football. The holy crusade of UAT football also acts as an impediment to social or economic progress. For instance African-American females are not allowed in the all-white UAT sororities. It is well known that when a university simply reflects the attitudes of its football fans it is no longer a university in the true meaning of the word. And so it is…

Ole Miss is a charter member of the SEC and has never reached the SECCG in football.

Missouri has been in the SEC for 3 years and has been to 2.
