Surprised it took them this long.

That’s pretty sad and pathetic. Not a good look at all.

You should apply for a job at the AJC. Perfect outlet for all that angst

According to the article she was making less than 12,000 dollars a year. She was on paid leave for several months and was currently on unpaid leave.

So... not sure why this matters. She wasn't working, wasn't being paid and wasn't answering communications from the athletic department about an investigation her employment required her to cooperate with.

I guess she still wanted the title? Wanted to eventually come back to a job that paid less than 12,000 a year?

They want something to come from this that sticks enough to get Kirby fired. That's it.

Nazi Germany was also notoriously known for controlling the media.

Godwins law achieved on page 2. ChiGator concedes defeat quicker than UF's football team does.

**edit** technically I guess it was achieved in the first post. That's like in your OP saying "I'm already conceding that I'm going to look stupid in this thread".

I need yall to get your story straight.

Going out drinking with players in a strip club, one of whom was underage, in a UGA rental car, is or is not ok for a staffer?

If it's not ok, then isn't it appropriate for this employee to be terminated?

Or are you saying it was all ok, and this employee didn't do anything wrong?

If that is the reason used for firing her , they better be ready to explain why they don't fire the next staffer or coach that is found to have done something similar. Bar is set pretty low for firing if that is the case.

UGA Football does about $200 million in annual revenue. Most employers at that level would most likely terminate an employee involved in contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unauthorized use of a company vehicle which was involved in a fatal accident killing 2 people associated with the business in question, one who was also an employee. It is a tragedy that unfortunately happens all too often and as a UGA fan I am concerned about what it says about the program but I am not going to base that concern on the opinions of talking heads who make a living off controversy or the opinions of fans of rival teams who, like UGA fans, are not above exploiting a tragedy in the interest of getting another fan base riled up. There are people at UGA who make a heap of money managing a pretty valuable brand. I trust their judgement until they prove untrustworthy, not that that means anything at all, but as far as opinions they are very similar to assholes....

They fired her for refusing to answer questions relating the internal investigation of that exact incident.

Pretty sure if any incident of that sort was reported and a person involved refused through a lawyer to answering any questions about their involvement, they'd be fired.

What should Georgia do - Rant Poster POLL:

A - Do nothing and prove you have no discipline and support a bad culture

B - Do a token "investigation" and fire some low level staffer to take the fall and try to make this all go away quietly but in reality change nothing about the bad culture

C - Do a real investigation and clean up the corrupt toxic culture that is clearly permeating the football program from the top down and hold Kirby Smart responsible for his dereliction of duties to the student athletes left in his charge.

Vote here:

C

D

I'd put her on administrative leave until the lawsuit and investigation is over. Not like her paycheck is going to make a dent in the budget. Paying a lawyer to deal with any type of employment related due diligence on her firing probably cost Georgia 2-3 times this girl's annual salary.

I love how speeding is somehow a "corrupt toxic culture permeating the football program" to people on the rant...

but delivering firearms to be used in murders is absolutely reasonable behavior.

Par for the course though. In the past UGA's corrupt culture was unpaid parking tickets (the vast majority of UGA off-season arrests were for driving with a suspended license... which means unpaid parking tickets).

Before that it was for operating mopeds incorrectly (we had a string of suspensions related to moped offenses).

I guess if a school actually doesn't have major issues, going after meaningless stuff is all you can do. Enjoy I guess.

Probably right. How's that gun culture being handled at Bama?

Any courses on not driving drunk?

Goose and gander and all.

Maybe you failed to read the article? She was on leave with no pay. They tried to get her to cooperate with the investigation and she refused.

I'd say enough people got terminated due to this behavior and it's clear that UGA is not prepared to accept the fundamental issues that are going on in that program.
