Kirby wasn't disagreeing with NIL, paying players, or the portal. He wants to close the portal at some point and not allow transferring on a whim whenever someone feels like it. Just do it in a select time frame. I think that's more than reasonable and it' would be good for the game.

Wasn't Bama doing NIL since 2005?
I don't know.
All I know is that I'm not giving money to Ole Miss anymore.
I'm done.
Except for baseball.

have zero sympathy for college coaches when it comes to NIL and the portal. Their greedy asses have chased money their entire careers.
Kirby turned down millions of dollars from UGA back when Richt was out coach. What did he have? Patience.

I agree. Things aren’t too bad now, but it can’t get to the point where everyone just puts their name in the hat whether or not they plan on leaving and then a team takes a star player from another team that they are likely to play in the next few months. What if Georgia buys Ewers last minute and goes on to win the SEC after a narrow Texas win? It might take something like that for things to change.

How bout we talk about college football history that does not pre-date the freaking ice ages and is so old that it practically has to be carbon-dated?
As of the last 3 years of cfb, Ohio st has become Michigan's red-headed stepchild, lost to UGA in the cfb playoff when they were mercifully gifted a spot when they didn't really deserve it, then got prison-raped by Mizzou, which is pretty much a perennial mid-tier SEC program. So, tell me again what it is you have to come on here and brag about with your over-rated and over-hyped program?

Hey now OSU is a big deal. THE big deal. Wasn't their coach in a commercial? Just for men? I'm expecting big things

Maybe you need to quit spending all Knight's money on silly-looking uniforms and helmets. Try investing in your product, just makes good business sense.

Stop….whining. Right? Instead of getting behind what saban was trying….had been saying..,for years, you idiots put personal feelings ahead of what was right. The backlash against saban went national
For the thousandth time, Saban was actively and publicly complaining about a practice that Bama honed and refined under his watch - buying the best available players en masse.
Yeah, yeah, "everybody was doing it", but it was the blatant and over the top bagman game of Bama that pushed NIL out to the masses. Saban complaining about how NIL ruined the game is actually his realization of (1) seeing the Bama bagman advantage disappear, and (2) the damage that Bama's blatant bagman game did to CFB as a whole when everyone else clamored to have the same benefit.
To be fair, Saban isn't/wasn't wrong. But putting him at the pinnacle of I-TOLD-YOU-SO mountain is ridiculous.

This would be either collusion or price fixing and is also illegal and would be sued into oblivion before it got off the ground.
The NCAA has no choice but to make players employees as I see it if they want to fix the mess that they themselves created.
price fixing.
Generally, the antitrust laws require that each company establish prices and other competitive terms on its own, without agreeing with a competitor. When purchasers make choices about what products and services to buy, they expect that the price has been determined on the basis of supply and demand, not by an agreement among competitors. When competitors agree to restrict competition, the result is often higher prices. Price fixing also includes agreements among competing purchasers or competing employers about the prices or wages they will pay. Price fixing is a major concern of government antitrust enforcement.
Price fixing of what?
It's not collusion or price fixing for a group of people to get together and abide by a set of rules in order to create a product.
Furthermore, there is noting that restricts competition. You can right now go out there and form your own league and pay these players millions of dollars and they can choose not to go to college. The NFL can decide tomorrow it wants to start taking kids out of high school.
When it comes to competition between the schools, any school is allowed to join the FBS or any level of competition as long as they met the minimum requirements. But, the NCAA is a voluntary organization, a school or group of schools can split off from the NCAA at any point and form their own league.
So any claims that competition is restricted is just delusion. I don't even know what price you think is being fixed.

I think he's talking about the fixing of salaries for players
and I've said this several times I think, the very minute some QB's and RB's don't accept being paid the same as linebackers, the bag men start up again to make up the difference in what prima donnas think they're worth
the sheep on here have been fed "employee" line on the stupid afternoon talk shows I guess, and their mush brains can't get past thinking about what that would cause
