Baylor and TCU are top 5 programs. Best football going for the state the last 3+ years.

Good grief, Mr. Kool Aid, I'd bet my bottom dollar you were (or are) one of those whooping Corps turds who have an affinity for grabbing penis.

Did daddy make you join the Corps so you could play Army like pappy?

Nope. I grew up a texas fan actually.

I appreciate your pride, Legacy. Maybe the money will increase the academic rep down the line. Maybe even the football success. There is always a lag. It's a competitive world out there.

Which says more about Texas and A&M than them.

Maybe, maybe not but in my own terms, the school has given me some unreal opportunities. They may not be wholesale, but they exist and consistently grow each year. I think as time goes on and more and more of us go out into the world, the view of Texas A&M as an also-ran school will change significantly. Like you said, I probably see it because of the proximity but others don't. We will see what happens when that lag catches. Thanks for being an adult and having a pretty civil discussion.

I don't think A&M was ever an also ran.

It's not in Austin or Dallas or Houston. That's it's only real disadvantage but it's a big one to a lot of people.

Our national profile, especially pre Johnny was shite. A&M has a pretty significant Houston presence though and Houston is an increasingly important city for business and trade. Just head to OTC to see it in action. Also, a surprisingly enjoyable place to live depending on which part you are in. Energy's dominance for the past few years has really just exploded it.

I'd like to hear you defend your post. In 1997 A&M was ranked 48th among national universities in USN&W Report. In 2014 they were 68th.

I can tell you exactly what caused that.

1. The dropping of the journalism program in 2004

2. The increase in enrollment by nearly 11,000 since 1997. Student to professor ratio is a HUGE factor in those rankings

3. 10% admission requirement. That sounds like it would increase numbers, but has the opposite effect, especially when you factor in the rural areas. I believe Texas has had a similar drop in ratings as a result.

4. Absolute refusal to adhere to certain metrics that USNWR wants in order to raise their ratings.

They played Ohio St. and lost.

So in the BCS/NY6 bowl games the records are:

Texas: 3-1
TCU: 2-1
A&M: 0-1
Baylor: 0-2

Thanks for the info. I actually thought i knew the answer and asked semi-rhetorically but it appears I was wrong based on your info.

Out of curiosity, is the cotton bowl not considered a NY6 bowl? I was under the impression that it is.

Texas is the most overrated program in the country. They have one national title in the last forty years despite unlimited money and prime recruiting. They should be known more for squandering opportunities than playing football.

You really think Baylor and TCU would have beaten A&M in '12?

Or '13?

All the italicized words from Fox in your post..is far too much hyperbole for 3rd in West at best..living off JFF's W in TTown..etc..

Now, if it's just comparing mediocrity(TAM's SEC era results) vs current state of affairs in Austin, and aimed at a mostly Texas state based readership, then I'm OK with the myopic eyesight..

Otherwise, it's just more undeserved TAM Lewinski-festing by the media. Which scares the rest of SEC fans, because we can only imagine what it may be like if the the actual Aggie W-L column ever deserves truly proportionate fellating.

If Ag Substance ever exceeds Ag Swag..I'll truly be nauseous.
