I would argue we have a better Women's Basketball program right now today.

Football is everything to me. I force myself to care somewhat about Men's Basketball and Baseball. No amount of effort can make me care about women's college sports.

How many women's basketball national championships would you trade for A&M to win the national title next season in football? A trillion?

We'll never know if Texas would have beaten us. Colt and his father decided playing the Bama D might expose him both as a QB and physically and decided not to play.

Honestly, do you really believe Colt was afraid? He left college football with the most wins by a QB at any level, he had the most accurate passing season in college football history, and he thumped a lot of talented defenses along the way.

Colt had run a ton in his career, but why the Texas OC chose that game, at that moment, to run an option, where the QB by design will take a hit, will always be a mystery.

I get that, but Women's Basketball is Big 3 by the ratings.

None, those women earned their title and I would never take that away from them. Let the football team earn one if they want one.

My personal ego isn't tied to how many national titles my University's football team has won, and I think that would be the case if A&M was more successful as well. I would love to see an A&M National Title in my lifetime because it would be a fun thing to share with people I love, but if it doesn't happen I wouldn't want some Genie in a Bottle to force the issue.

frick we can make up football national titles without trading women's titles. It is such a cheap/useless metric until the NCAA recognizes champions.

A mystery? It was a play in the playbook. That's not really a mystery.

We owe them big-time.

Us too, that would have fricked up our shite if Okie State won a national title. I like keeping them in recruiting obscurity (despite nice facilities).

I will be honest TCU makes me nervous for that same reason. Someone needs to hire Patterson.

I don't think Colt was afraid at all. I think Colt's dad felt it was better for Colt to sit the rest of the game.

The scent of blood was in the air after that hit, there was no reason to let the animals on Bama's defense get worked up for a feast on a gimpy QB.

I watched every snap Colt took in College. That was the first & only time I remember him running the option. Perhaps he had done it before, but it was such a rarity, I don't recall it.

With the speed that Bama D had in lateral pursuit, calling the option then & there was beyond ridiculous.

It'd be financially wise for Myles Garrett's dad to step in before the LSU game.

(just trying to throw some SEC love into this Big12 party)

Texas was dominating Bama up to that point. If Colt had had any feeling in his arm, he would have stayed in the game. I know it sucks to have the entire nation know it was a hollow victory for Bama. Hell, even though it looked like a lock, I'll even admit that was still a 20% chance Bama wins that game even if Colt had been healthy from that point on.

Man, as a Bama fan that game is so far in the rearview mirror.... In fact, I doubt the entire nation ever thinks of it much at all anymore. There have been a lot of champions crowned since then.

#1 Go watch the game again booster, it will all become clear to you.

#2 The beginning of this thread involved a&m, but we're talking about championship games now. Donny, you're out of your element.

Texas was off to a great start, but in no sense were they dominating the game. If McCoy would have been able to come back in on the 2nd possession they would have been up 10-0, but that doesn't make it over at all. Getting a lead on Bama was huge because they would have to pass more often, but it wouldnt have mattered much that early in game.

Not anymore - that's why we see him on an SEC message board discussing aTm.

Texas football is a hollow afterthought to the entire nation and has been for quite a few years. I don't see Cholly changing a damn thing in that program.
