No way in heck does a 2 loss team, whose 2 losses include a 30 point blowout and a loss to Troy make it into the playoffs.

There are actually 5 teams. If Auburn wins out they are SEC champs.

Your not getting it dude. LSU has one conference loss. Meaning the only conference team they lost to has already lost more then one conference game. So LSU would win any tie breakers if they win out. Hence they control their own destiny. They don't need another team to lose.

If auburn wins out and LSU win out. LSU wins the tiebreaker with head to head

Depends on how many 0 and 1 loss teams remain
We have to go back to LSU's 2 loss run that included UK and Arky to a season where 2 loss was the norm.

I'll settle for controlling Ole Miss this weekend

No, you are not getting it
The day we dumped the BCS for the CFP we traded the computers for a committee. Last season Penn State won the B1G, by the old computer system they go as they won the 13th game (extra game) AND it was a CCG (extra weight) yet the committee sent Ohio State instead.
Basically if the norm is 2 losses at the end of the season and they want a team in, the committee will make it happen.
Big market teams and big brands will trump all others if the records are equal then they will spin the narrative to fit who they choose.

Technically, Auburn does control their own destiny, because their destiny is to have a disappointing season and end up in a crappy bowl.

He was talking about controlling your own destiny to win the sec
Posted on 10/20/17 at 9:25 pm to Cheese Grits
If you read the beginning of the thread, he says the fourth team (LSU), will keep the sec out of the natty. Only four teams control their own destiny to win the sec. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. It doesn't matter. Unless this season takes a crazy turn, it will be Alabama in the playoff anyway.

WTF are you even talking about? There are still no LSU posters posting any comments besides explaining the fact that they control their own destiny.
That is unarguably true. Whether they indeed win out is probably not very likely, but it doesn't change the fact that they will be SEC champions if they do.
The whole thread is hypothetical. Do you even understand what that means?

And both of those loses were very close ones in overtime, and both to conference opponents.

Both have two losses, one in conference one out ... difference being we already played Alabama and UCLA > Troy
If Alabama wins out, and you win out, who is the champ? Bama.
shite

I'm surprised by how many people in this thread don't understand the concept of controlling your own destiny...

USF or UCF isn't getting in unless the top 10 melts down, undefeated or otherwise.
A 1 loss Bama team will get the nod over everyone except a B1G team unless that loss happens in Atlanta. Even then, we have a good chance.

You've only got 358 posts but 2 of them are rustled at me. You gonna make a third?

everyone believes that Bama will win the SEC and make the playoff; Bama fans think they are a playoff shoe in if they only lose 1 and don't even make the SEC CG
Bama fans are wrong about that.
This whole playoff committee was created to prevent what happened with Bama in 2011.
You MIGHT be right about USF/UCF; but I don't think so. They both have respectable strength of schedule
but you are for damned sure wrong about the ACC & SEC champs - that's 2
Also the B1G - any 1 loss B1G team is in - how in the hell you think Bama jumps Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, or even Michigan State or Wisconsin after they win a championship game with only 1 loss is beyond me
Same for a 1 loss Oklahoma, Okie State or TCU
or Notre Dame - Bama has juice; but not enough to jump a 1 loss Irish team that beats USC, Miami & Stanford
or a 1 loss USC. Or Washington. Or even Wazzou
truth is; a one loss Bama team that does not make the SEC CG absolutely CAN still be in a playoff; but they need a few people to lose to make that a reality
