Yep, obviously I would have preferred OK State but it doesn’t matter because we got pantsed. That was the beginning of the end of the Les Miles era, he made absolutely no effort to adjust the game plan. I believe those two teams were dead even at every position except head coach, and that was the difference.

Saban actually did film work leading up to the game and broke down our DB’s technique with respect to footwork.

I have the want to believe Saban found those tendencies watching film of the SECCG. It's the only part of this where I think LSU truly got shafted. Bama deserved to be in the game, CLM got totally outclassed, and LSU fans will never get over seeing the best regular season run in history with no national hardware to show for it.

But, no one can tell me the team that lost the regular season game wasn't rewarded by sitting home and watching their eventual opponent fight thru a conference champ. game. I get that playing for an SEC Champ. was and is a big deal, but that's the part that's always stuck with me (along with being in the dome and wishing someone would light me on fire).

and back up LB Jarrell Harris forced the pitch from Jefferson AND ran the running back out of bounds for a loss

jefferson always pitched early. He got popped one time and was scared for the rest of his career with options.

The only time he pitched too late is when the cops busted him with weed.

Agreed. Oklahoma State was clearly one of the top 2 teams in the country that year. Yep.

Bama beat our arse, whatever. But I can't blame that LSU team for being deflated about it because the BCS essentially said A) winning the regular season meeting didn't matter, B) winning the SEC didn't matter, and C) going undefeated didn't matter.

I love the part...."you could've heard a pin drop" They didn't wanna play Bama again. Excellent post friend.

Nobody did. Why would we when OK State was an almost guaranteed win.

So this walk on of one year was making suggestions at half time of the NCCG and wondering why coach wasn't listening to him? And he had a beef with Miles?

Walk on full back. He was a freshman that year. Some say TBob had a different account. Who to believe?

TBob had loyalty to Les. This guy left after a year or two. so he has no loyalty to Miles.

just looking at the starting defenses from both teams, almost all of them went to the NFL.

Not to mention the skill players on offense

- Odell Beckham
- Rueben Randle
- Jarvis Landry
- Russell Shepard
- Spencer Ware
- Alfred Blue
- Trent Richardson
- Eddie Lacy
- Jalston Fowler

All were either high picks and/or have had solid NFL careers.

I am convinced that if we had any other coach who wasn’t so stubborn, we would have won that natty in 2011/12.

Rantard confirmed.

I hope he's watching LSU now and reconsidering this statement in the highly unlikely chance that this is an actual former player.

When we opened the second half with JJ still in, I legit screamed in frustration and was pretty much done.

Of course they were the two best teams. But then why in 2012 did Notre Dame make the title game? Or OU in 2003? Or Braska in 2001? People like to flip flop depending on the teams involved whether they want the two best, or two most deserving teams....

Just like LSU didn't deserve to play for it in 07

Who did then?
certainly not a 2 loss UGA who lost to a 6-6 USCe team and got spanked by a 9-3 UT team 35-14.

Alabama was the right and correct choice for the 2011 BCS.

Deserve or not, it's an extremely tall order to ask a football team to beat one of the top football teams in the country twice in order to win a NC.

From the looks of 21-0, looks like Bama more than deserved to be there that night!

Yeah, none of that is true.

Les stated himself in that podcast that he didn't have the team prepared mentally enough. He didn't get through to them.

Les is a class act who has a lot of players that love him. Guess you didn't catch him actually talking to a former player that named his fricking kid after Les.

LSU won that game to the tune of 42-10.

the whole thing was definitely not fair to LSU. We had to beat bama twice to win the NC and they only had to beat us once.

but life isn't fair. As LSU fans we were spoiled with championship games, between baseball and football LSU fans saw the Tigers reach the title game 8 times between 1991 and 2009 and LSU went 8-0 in those games. The reality is that if you're good enough, long enough, eventually you're going to lose a championship game.

We didn't have the eye of the tiger in that game, they did and they won. Tip your cap and move on bc at the end of the day we have nobody to blame but ourselves bc if we had brought it that day it would have been a coinflip finish just like 9-6 was. If we had lost on a fluky play or call or something then we would have had a legit gripe, but that's not what happened. Is what it is, I think we'll see LSU back there one day.

I remember suggesting to some people that we come out in a five-wide formation, Lee in at QB and air it out for an entire drive. Even if it was three straight incompletions. Saban doesn’t respond that well to instant change, and that’s why we beat him the first time.

Lol at a player telling coaches what formations they should run at halftime. I can only imagine how Saban would react to such a fiasco.
