haven't read the last several posts but I'm willing to bet undecided has an explanation for this as well. I remember the popular explanation from Auburn fans explaining the numbers is that the prospective students that choose Auburn are of so much more vastly brilliant and qualified than those that apply to Alabama and this is why Auburn's much higher acceptance rate means nothing. rolleyes:

Well Auburn's incoming students have higher statistics than Alabama as far as GPA and test scores. The acceptance rate is not really a good measure of quality at all. you can have a low acceptance rate with a shitty pool to choose from.

Both are great schools, despite the rampant drug abusers in T-Town

I'll grant you this as Auburn's freshmen numbers are pretty impressive. Having said that, the difference isn't nearly as dramatic as a lot of Auburn people make it out to be. We're talking roughly about a 1 - 1.5 point difference in average ACT scores which isn't earth shattering. It isn't that Auburn's numbers aren't impressive, it is that you guys try to sell this ridiculous idea that your average ACT numbers are like 10 points higher than Alabama's.

As long as UA isn't lowering their standards to earn a degree, then how the Hell is anything being watered down? It doesn't make it easier to get just because more people have an opportunity to get it.

These discussions are all dumb.

Public education is a scam. Unless you go to an Ivy League school, you are getting ripped off for tens of thousands of dollars that you (or someone) will be paying for years to come. As a man (with a BS and Masters myself) who has hired hundreds in my life as an executive and/or business owner, I only care about who can make my company profit or who can perform a technical task (and even then I'll have to reteach you when you get into the real world).

I could really give a shite about where you went to school. Most of you must be under the age of 30 and just don't know any better, but most of these discussions are mute when it comes to me paying you and you actually performing.

So, just stop it. Waste hours away writing about the intricate details of admissions all you want. If you are doing this during my time . . . I'll fire you, regardless of school.

These discussions are the dumbest I read here on the Rant. Grow up.

Are they going to write a slobber piece about the 5 teams that are even more valuable than bama according to this Forbes article or did the rec not fund that

I'm not sure why the REC would fund a fluff piece about other schools but I'll bring it up at our next meeting.
