Not a big fan of it, but it should just be Spurrier Field if you are gonna re-name it.

That's a lot of conference titles and division titles they must have then.
Spurrier went to the SEC Championship Game 7 times in the 10 years it was played while at Florida and he won it 4 times.

That's what makes it tacky imo. The hyphenation. Just make it SS field.

My father in law was born in Gainesville in 1952, graduated Gainesville High in 1970, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1974. His parents and 4 siblings all still live in Gainesville. He is honestly the biggest fan of any university I have seen. He grew up with Steve Spurrier as his boyhood ideal, then went through Spurrier winning the title as a coach.
With that said, he is devastated Florida did this He despises SOS now. It is like he crushed his soul when he took another team onto Florida field. Interested to see how other old school Gator fans feel

So they don't confuse it with his high school maybe?

Spurrier had a great deal to do with what success Florida football had.... he should be honored..

I personally think that having a separate name for the field is retarded.
The stadium having a name is sufficient. We don't need to name the field, the goalposts, the press box, etc.

His most phenomenal feat is still managing to lose to dumbose twice in a season.

Florida was not always relevant. We even beat them back in the day.....Spurrier made them a strength..

A little cumbersome. But the Urbz should be squeezed in there somewhere.
Steve Spurrier & Urbz Meyer - Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, sponsored by Gatorade.
That covers everything.

I agree. It just sounds better that way if you're gonna rename it.
Question to Gators: Is the name Florida Field something that has special resonance to you? I know I wouldn't want us to rename Shields-Watkins even if the change were meant to honor one of our greats.

Just name it The Ol' Ball Stadium.

I can answer this one. Texas did the same thing by naming what was formerly "Texas Memorial Stadium" as "Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium."
The reason? The UT athletics admin figured that if they split it (Darrell Royal Field at Texas Memorial Stadium) that one of the names would be lost when media members reported from Austin. Therefore, by combining both, news media must use both, and neither the "memorial" portion nor the "Darrell Royal" portion is lost.
Makes for a long lead in a story sometimes, though.

That was directed at the idiot Ole Miss guy, not Florida. You frickers have had great teams and win hardware.
Still hate y'all though.

Florida Field was rededicated in 1934 to the memory of Florida servicemen who died in World War I, and a plaque was placed on the outside wall behind the old north end zone as a memorial.[1]

No way I'd rename it then but that's just me.
