Beginning September 3rd. It will be permanent.
Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
I appreciate what he did for the school but I find this as a little tacky.

He did more than just coach at Florida.

Why keep the Florida?
Just name it CSS Field @ BHG
I think people will get that the "Florida" is implied by all the orange and blue and gators and "University of Florida" covering every inch of the place

The evil genius put UF on the national map, UT and UF owned the SEC in the 1990's (more UF than UT.) It was usually the game of the year to watch during the season.

damn if y'all get a super duper coach in the future you'll have to add his name also. that will be a whopper.

Should be Steve Spurrier Field...
I does feel weird naming the field after somebody who beat the Gators on that field with a different team.

Spurrier built Florida football into a national power. Without Spurrier, Florida would be like the Mississippi schools in football.

I absolutely disagree. It may not have been the elite program that it is, but there's no way UF would be like the Mississippi schools, not with their resources and that recruiting base.

I disagree. No way Florida would have reached OM/MSU levels of dominance without Spurrier.

Well done. SOS is a legend.

"Dominance" Right. That's a lot of conference titles and division titles they must have then.

It will be named by everyone as Spurrier Field in the future as it should be, unlike some younger Gator fans....I was 17 when he was a soph at UF and you just cannot explain how much of an impact he did in 3 yrs. He beat out a senior QB by the 3rd game of his soph season...which would be like a frosh nowadays. He single handedly beat Miss St back in 1964 leading the Gators down the field to a winning FG 16-13 with time running out. He beat Ole Miss 30-13 that year, S. Carolina 37-0, almost beat Bama in Tuscaloosa 14-17 when Bama was trying to get revenge for the 1963 upset by the Gators. This is from memory, not a media guide btw.
