Not really, Johnson covers up almost any space between Springdale and Fayetteville. The transition from the two is nearly all urban.

How is Jackson MS above Birmingham? How in the blue piss are both of those ranked above New Orleans and Memphis?

I think it's based on value vs quality of living. New Orleans has a lot of crime and property values are really high, driving down both their QOL and value of your wages. That would be my only guess.

I miss the quaint small town feel of Fayetteville 20 years ago, but if you stay south of Township, you can pretend it's still a town of 40k.

Remember when Dickson street was home to a small herd of hippies? Its still a wonderful place to live but I do miss old Fayetteville.

There's no gap between the two cities on the east side either. Crossover turns into Old Wire without any break.

That area is very nice. Growing fast. Glad they're making another lane for I-49, traffic is a mess.

The only remaining gap between Fayetteville and Springdale/Johnson is the big open field that Terminella just had rezoned. I was driving thru Johnson just last night, seeing the crane at Washington Regional for their big expansion, and realizing that I was driving through what I remember as countryside. A five-story apartment block is underway to my left, and in 5 years the entire area will be retail-lined boulevards.

I recall the everpresent drum circles, the occasional fire-eater, and the lama lady. It's way too gentrified for any of that now.

Traffic is getting worse by the day. Another north-south thoroughfare is needed badly.

Laugh all you want. Fayetteville/NWA increasingly gets mentioned along with those metros, as far as job growth, liveability, and being good places for Millennials.

This ranking isn't the first.

Fayetteville/NWA is considered a contender to be the "next Austin" or Research Triangle by lots of people and publications.

I went there back in Nov. This is laughable. The land is pretty, but pretty much everything about the town is forgettable with the exception of Duke. Duke is a beautiful campus. Yuge with everything so spaced out.

Lol no. Raleigh/Durham is a great place to live, it has one of the strongest economies in the U.S., plus the area is home to RTP, NC State, UNC, as well as Duke. It also sits 3hrs from the Appalachians and 2.5 from Emerald Isle.

It's amazing to me how people argue about a place they've never been to, or have only been to the extreme southern end of.

How close is 49 to being done? 3 lanes isn't enough. I don't know why they didn't just make it 4 on each side. They also should just do a damn toll express way straight up the son of a gun. Start it at weddington and end in bentonville. I haven't been to Fayetteville since August. I am excited to go back for football season this year and check out the growth.

I love that they call "small" 50 - 200K. The town I've lived in for 34 years (so I obviously like the place) isn't nearly big enough to qualify as "small". And even if it did, clicking on "small" results in "No matches found". Hopefully city dingbats will keep on believing nonsense like this poll.

I live right outside of Denver...I will say that NW Arkansas is a nice place(when compared to the rest of the state)
That said...from a quality of life standpoint, you couldn't carry Denver's dirty jock as a city...
