Yep, and i would imagine it wouldn't be hard to convince them to sign it

Well that would be the kids fault would it not? It's a stupid rule. I'm pretty tired of laws that protect somebody from themselves.

Even if I sign it, I could tell the schools that if you keep contacting this much, your school will no longer be in consideration.

LSU should not have reported it and then they could have acted dumbfounded about how it all went down.

Ehhh, these look like Kiffin recruiting 101.

If CJ signed four than shouldn't the other schools be reporting the same infraction

I would imagine those school chose not to use that unlimited contact, since none of them knew where he'd end up signing at the time.

Even if they had, I doubt it would be reported by rival schools.

Only if they went beyond regular contact rules.

LSU chose to use it with Womack. Why, I'm not sure - since he was obviously not solid.

One phone call, in December, to see if he needed anything for enrollment.

True. But to be fair it's not only "Tiger fans" suggesting that this rule is stupid.

hese rules prevent schools from handing out FAA like candy in order to have unlimited contact with any recruit they choose.

You will be called a dumbass by LSU fans because the FAA binds the school to honor the commitment. As if you would have someone you weren't sure you would take sign a FAA.

LOL

No SEC rule should have "retroactively" as part of the description. Saying an action is legal only if someone makes a certain decision after the fact is absurd.

It would be like the government making a law basically saying "You can sign this marriage license and have unlimited sex with your fiancé. However, if you do have unlimited sex, and your fiancé does not go through with the marriage, you will be fined X number of dollars, be hit with jail time, and not be able to apply for a marriage liscense for 10 years."

Do you see how ridiculous that is?

I believe I very clearly stated in my OP that the rule needed to be amended for cases such as this.

But the rules - in principle - are a good thing.

LSU knew those rules. LSU gambled. LSU lost.

Don't blame Bama.

Because that's always been LSU's policy with these issues.

Well that's really not a fair depiction, because no recruit would sign one unless they are committed to that school. Its not like lsu made it rain with FAA's.

Not true because C.J. Hampton signed FAA's with Bama, UF and Ole Miss last year before the new rule was in place. They each got unlimited contact with him before he actually enrolled at Ole Miss. Schools should still use these for kids they really want that aren't committed. There is nothing wrong with getting a kid to sign one. Use it as a good faith gesture that you really are serious about the kid, but continue to follow the regular recruiting rules. It really shouldn't be that hard to understand.
