“After the type of budget battle we went through this past spring we certainly do not need to be throwing tens of millions of dollars around under certain circumstances,” he says. “We don’t need to go into the next legislative session with a black eye that we’re throwing tens of millions of dollars around on issues that aren’t associated with academic progress.”

“The public at large really doesn’t differentiate where the money comes from,” he says. “No matter how you explain it, it’s still a $15 million to $25 million decision that needs to be factored into the overall equation.”

Buddy, with the canceled game y'all would be at 9 wins + bowl game

Les earned one more year, and throwing away money when you're telling folks you need more from the taxpayers? Well that's not smart, and he's right.

Louisiana Politics, everyone. Held LSU athletics back until Emmert came in 2000, and now it's rearing its ugly head, yet again. Don't worry about LSU for the foreseeable future, SEC sports fans.

This cat is a joke

I'm not as Anti-Miles as some on here but this logic is dumb.

Maybe the Athletic Dept can NOT donate $ back to education in 2016.

What I don't get is why he doesn't just quit. He's already a millionaire. He could tell them to FO and leave them hanging, like in May, and sit his arse on the beach somewhere and laugh at the F. King president until the cows come home.

Link to any post that I said Les should be fired. I'll wait.

LSU wouldn't be paying the buyout. Read the article, or even just the portions I quoted, before making yourself look stupid next time.

This is the worst possible thing that could have happened to LSU.

That article is infuriating to read as an LSU fan. You insult the public by saying they're essentially too stupid to understand why you made a decision. Then proceed to make a decision you think they will understand, essentially admitting its a stupid decision. THE frick IS GOING ON?!

He saw this situation as a way to advance the "LSU is dead broke" narrative he's been pushing, and he took it.
