Why should LSU act any different than the precedent set by other schools numerous times? We offered to do anything possible to play the game the scheduled weekend and UF declined. In 2004 Hurricane Ivan hit 3 days before the game and even with LSU and Auburn sharing a bye week later in the year, Auburn wouldn't consider moving the game from the scheduled weekend.
quote:
The status of the game remained in doubt until Friday morning as officials in Alabama and Louisiana assessed damage from the hurricane. Auburn officials drew some criticism when they decided to go ahead with the game with thousands of people still without electrical power and coping with the destruction caused by the storm.
Auburn Coach Tommy Tuberville -- who turned 50 Saturday -- was determined to play because he did not want to make it up on his team's only open date, Nov. 6, then have to face Georgia and Alabama on subsequent weekends.

So tell us how moving the game to 11/19 would be a reasonable alternative for LSU

I know it's easier for you to blindly accuse LSU of being at fault, but UF played the SEC like a fiddle, so yeah, it's easy for me, and much of the rest of the SEC, to believe they are just spinning this now to make themselves not look so bad.

Why is you believe the UF AD and not the LSU AD?

I rarely troll. It wouldn't surprise me if you're as fricking stupid about college football as you are about life in general.

Because it's "fun" to troll on tRant

From ESPN article this morning
"The 18th-ranked Gators (4-1, 2-1 SEC) want to play the game Nov. 19 in Gainesville and offered that scenario during conversations on Wednesday and Thursday. But sources told ESPN and The Associated Press that LSU turned down that offer."
Either you want to play the game or not. If you want to play the game, then agree to the date and go.
Alleva says that is false. How believable it is who knows.
Florida's hurricane doesn't become our missed home game. Simple as that. Florida doesn't want to miss a home game and we don't want to so here we are.

And you believe that?
Yes, because he was willing to call ESPN's Brett McMurphy a liar and bad journalist on the air. Everything you're hearing from Florida is through other people. We heard directly from Alleva. A tweet about hearing from a source is not as credible as hearing it directly from the horse's mouth.
See if you can get Foley to say it was brought up directly during a call that was probably recorded?

I believe both sides are playing a PR game. I don't take either of their statements at face value.

Furthermore, so you're saying LSU should be penalized and lose a home game because Florida's AD is incompetent? That's not going to work.
Not saying LSU should be penalized at all. Our first year in the SEC we had a weather cancellation for La Tech. We ended up making up that game and played something like 9 straight weeks. It sucks for a number of reasons but we played it instead of cancelling. We were on the road a lot. The primary difference is that we didn't have a shortened week for our next game which you guys do.

Basically Florida is scared to play with their backup QB, and LSU is scared to play their starter.

From LSU AD Joe Alleva with radio interview this morning. This is the other side of the story.
-LSU made every effort to play this game
-LSU had transportation in place to play game in Gainesville come hell or high water whichever day FL wanted.
-Foley was adamant until yesterday afternoon that the game would be played at UF and rebuffed ANY conversation of moving the game. Basically had his head in the sand.
-called McMurphy of ESPN a liar that was looking for clickbait with his story about LSU's refusal to reschedule game. 100% false
-each conference call that took place had reps from LSU, UF, and the SEC.
-SEC did NOTHING to step in and encourage a decision be made. Joe said not once did they put any pressure on UF.
-game will almost certainly not be rescheduled.
forfeit

I just heard Foley say they couldn't come up with anything so they'll just wait and do what Sankey tells them. He's either a liar or an ignorant moron.
So LSU is offering solutions and "we don't know what to do, help us daddy Sankey".
Sounds about right.

i think there are some legitimate issues with the 11/19 reschedule and i could see how it hasn't really been pushed yet. first, with the hurricane actually looming, i can see that the negotiations are done and after the postponement was announced they kind of ceased. second, the SEC would be getting into some squishy areas with having to have teams break 2 contracts and then disadvantage LSU when LSU has done nothing wrong and was proactive in the situation (contrary to UF)

You believe it is reasonable for LSU to lose a home game?
Lose a home game and pay a $1.5M buyout , and play the aggies on a short week all because of Foley and Sankey's complete and utter incompetence.

I wish some national media source would invite both AD's, and the SEC Commissioner, to a round table sit down, to discuss exactly what happened. Pull out all the stops, and just ask basic questions and get each to answer.
At some point, whoever is lying would get exposed. And honestly, whoever refused to attend would clearly be known as the one that is spreading the lies.
I bet TV ratings would shoot out the ceiling.
