ESPN was pushing this narrative of leaving FSU out before JT13 got hurt.

Yeah, because their schedule was so weak. Everyone laughed at Michigan's schedule, but at least they beat two top ten teams. FSU didn't even play a top ten team.

2-0 to two mid tier at best teams. Not one team in the ACC beat an even decent SEC team. In fact, Kentucky beat their #2 team the week before.

ESPN led the charge to get Bama in, now they're trying to have it both ways and pretend they're incensed about FSU getting snubbed

That is because the negative feedback is way beyond their initial expectations.

Booger was spot on. This was a really bad outcome.

You simply don't undercut an undefeated P5 team. Period.

If only Texas and Alabama could play on the field to determine who was better...

Truly a shame they couldn't schedule each other this year

All games matter, and most teams change throughout the season.

Thankfully, this isn't the only time two team may go head-to-head. Big12, Pac12 conferences do it all the time.

Even LSU was happy to face-off again against Bama a decade ago..

We all remember the outcome of that game - 21 - 0, Bama.

Bama scheduled 1 OOC P5 opponent and lost that game.

FSU scheduled 2 (both from the SEC) and won both.

OOC scheduling is the only control an AD has over scheduling.
FSU made the effort and won.
Bama half assed it (like usual) and lost.

Prior to the CFPC announcement, Bama fans were "bitching" about scheduling the 1 Texas game.
All the while FSU had the balls to schedule 2 of them.

I wonder why you won't say the team names...only "OOC P5"

Where are you seeing this? Michigan beat 2 teams who finished in the top 10.
Here are the SOS rankings from the BCS computers:

Anderson/Hester: #31 Michigan, #8 Washington, #24 Texas, #23 Bama, #63 FSU
Billingsley: #47 Michigan, #15 Washington, #4 Texas, #1 Bama, #44 FSU
Colley Matrix: #32 Michigan, #11 Washington, #6 Texas, #7 Bama, #69 FSU
Massey: #57 Michigan, #4 Washington, #3 Texas, #2 Bama, #64 FSU
Sagarin: #56 Michigan, #5 Washington, #4 Texas, #12 Bama, #61 FSU

Average SOS from those 5:

Michigan - 44.6
Washington - 8.6
Texas - 8.2
Alabama - 9
FSU - 60.2

Taking out each team's lowest reported SOS:
Michigan - 41.5
Washington - 7
Texas - 4.25
Alabama - 5.5
FSU - 58

Florida is a yearly rivalry game.

LSU was a ranked fairly high when they played.

Its not subjective when you schedule a two game series several years in advance.

FSU had a better outcome against LSU than Bama did.

Texas
LSU
Florida

FSU scheduled 2 Big 6 programs.

If you have a point, I'd love to hear it.

I have no issue listing the teams.

So what's the point of scheduling OOC matchups if they will be irrelevant? FSU is penalized for scheduling 2 Tier 1 SEC Programs years in advance who happened to have mediocre seasons?

Outside of leaving the ACC, what are they supposed to do?

FSU played 2 more Power 5 opponents than Bama, which included 2 SEC schools. Bama has the better top end wins, but FSU may have a better overall schedule of "good" teams.

The SEC was 4-6 vs ACC with the ACC having the better wins.

Wins
UK 1-0 (UL)
UGA 1-0 (Ga Tech)
Miss 1-0 (Ga Tech)
Tenn 1-0 (UVA)

Losses
LSU 0-1 (FSU)
A&M 0-1 (Miami)
UF 0-1 (FSU)
USC 0-2 (Clemson and UNC)
Van 0-1 (Wake Forest)

Interestingly enough, Josh Pate had the comparative SOS between Alabama and FSU even larger:

Alabama SOS in FBS - .636 (3rd toughest schedule in the country)

FSU SOS in FBS - .511 (91st toughest schedule in the country)

Florida's 5-7. Probably one of FSU's toughest games, though, which exposes their god-awful conference slate.

Bama beat them, too. So did Ole Miss. Next...

Neat. So, game stats/control matter. How'd Bama look vs UGA and how'd FSU look vs Louisville, a team who lost to a "SEC OOC P5" also-ran?

While Bama was playing 4 top 13 teams and going 3-1, what was FSU doing with 4-loss Clemson, 5-loss BC and 5-loss Miami?

The selective data you're using instead of laying EVERYTHING out on the table betrays your bias here.

Oh, well.

Lol all of our better teams won their matchups while all of the SEC bottom feeders lost theirs.

So, Bama played a playoff team and FSU didn't. Both played LSU and won by 14 & 21, respectively. FSU beat 5-7 Florida.

What's so impressive with Florida State here? Bama should have dropped MTSU and scheduled Syracuse or Wake Forest?

Do you honestly think FSU is better than Bama?
I think FSU's defense would have locked your offense down and gave Milroe fits. You clearly forgot that it took a miracle for you to be a pedestrian Auburn team, squeak a win against Arky and damn near loss against South Florida.

Bama isnt some juggernaut this year, despite your delusions

Considering this shitty Auburn team should have beat Alabama a week ago, yeah I think they could beat bama

If Auburn was in the ACC this year, they likely would have played in the ACC title game. If they played anything like they did agains GA and Bama, they could have won it.

THe ACC title game was abysmal and the teams barely looked competent.

FSU should get credit because LSU was elite 4 years ago and Florida was elite 15 years ago?

Wut. The SEC #7/8 beat the ACC #2. ACC doesn't remotely have a win that good. Best one is ACC #1 beat the SEC #4. Well, yeah, they should win that.

They definitely won the head-to-head matchup, but "better wins" is definitely a subjective metric.

3 of them came against South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Teams that are a combined 3-13 in conference play.

You're really comparing these wins:

quote:

LSU 0-1 (FSU)
A&M 0-1 (Miami)

to this win:

quote:

UK 1-0 (UL)

However, it should be noted that these:

quote:

UGA 1-0 (Ga Tech)
Miss 1-0 (Ga Tech)

Came against a team that had a winning record in conference play in the ACC.

The SEC had 3 wins against teams with winning ACC records; the ACC had 1.

So I'd have to presume you REALLY mean win over LSU > win over Louisville.

Which means win over #3 SEC West team vs win over #2 ACC team.

So if your argument is that LSU > Louisville, then that places LSU as FSU's best win.

LSU, however, is only Alabama's 3rd best win and 4th highest opponent.
