The original point was that Chubb was getting hella carries the entire season, which is false.

I think the point is basically that Fournette only had 3 games in which he had 20 or more carries. Chubb had 5 and also had 3 where he had 30 or more carries. Fournette also had 8 games where he had 15 or fewer carries. Chubb was absolutely given the ball a lot and often once Gurley went down, much more than Fournette was the entire season. It's just different coaching philosophies and the fact that both Gurley and Keith Marshall were hurt. Had LSU had Terrance Magee and Kenny Hilliard go down, msybe you'd see more carries for Fournette.

But at the end of the day, Chubb definitely had the better season. However, both players were freshman. There's no telling how they'll compare 2 years from now or even after this season when both guys will be THE guy from day 1.

I don't post a ton, but I've gotten pretty tired of seeing the LSU whiners keep thinking LF is God's gift to the tailback position. Even worse, they think he's better than unquestionably the best back in the league going into 2015.

He just finished his true freshman season in which he broke the LSU freshman single season rushing record. And yet you act as if its completely unfathomable for us to think he might be the best back in the SEC.

Chubb has better stats last year, congrats. They both still have two yeas of college ball left though so lets she how it finishes out before we rush to make a definitive case.

i have no problem saying Chubb had a better season than Fournette. I think both are going to be great. LSU has a lot more pressing issues than worrying if we have the best RB in the nation or one that is just top 5.

Did you see Marshall's injury last year? He took a helmet straight to the knee. There was no running him into the dirt.

Gurley still kept being put in after "healing"

So no player ever has played hurt? This doesn't mean we run them into the ground.

Not from his time at UGA. He averaged 250 carries a year. I know that seems like a lot to LSU fans but it's not. Other backs are getting well over 350 a year.

Maybe you should take some time this year and watch UGA play some games. We use our stud running back the first quarter and a half and then bring in the other guys for carries to keep him fresh for the 4th quarter so we can wear teams down. It's not like we give them the ball 50 times a game.

Read my first comment. I already said Chubb is the better back. It is black and white because he outran Fournette in every category. I'm saying that unfortunately Chubb will have more wear on him due to Richt riding one horse. Fournette had five carries against Arkansas. I probably wouldn't have kept giving the ball to Chubb in a blow out with my first stringer (Gurley) suspended indefinitely. But hey Richt knows more about winning championships and getting guys to the league unlike Miles.

Regardless of carries, would you agree yards per carry would be an equalizer then? Since, as been mentioned, Chubb's was almost a full 2 yards higher.
Not in a vacuum no. Because if LF could get those 18-25th carries in a game, his yards per carry would go up. You would agree that the avg rush tends to go up as the game wears on. So to consistently get less carries in a game, will hurt is YPC.

Chubb had a better season, but stats are not the end-all.

Moreno averaged less than 20 carries a game in his 2 years at UGA...

Because in that game we were rotating Gurley and Chubb. Not even fair. Auburn and Clemson got the brunt of the very best of our running game last year.

Actually, the main example is Fournette with 17 yards against Arkansas and Chubb with 202 yards against Arkansas.

Well, Fournette got 5 touches for 9 yards and Chubb got 31 for 210. Not the best barometer.

So if the exact stats were reversed after this upcoming season, then what? Would Fournette suddenly be considered better by you?

If you ask me who had the better season last year, Chubb hands down. No question.

If you ask me who is the better back or who could be the better back, then that is where the debate is. Understand the difference? I think the full body or work over a career is the only way to say without a doubt who is better. It is yet to be seen.

I'm ok with them at 1A/1B no matter what order you put them in honestly at this point in their career. I'd pick Fournette to be on my team 100/100 times due to the fact that I'm an LSU fan and from Louisiana. Same thing that UGA fans would do with Chubb.

You shouldn't get trolled so easily. I am sure Chubb will do what he does and isn't worried about what fans on a MB are saying. Why should you? It will be easy to compare with their careers being the same time period.

Except Chubb gets to play in the SEC's Calcutta division.
