Richardson sucks because he leads the SEC in rushing, and his backup is tied for 10th.

If Trent was a good back, he'd be more like 8th or 9th.

I'm calling up the NFL HOF tomorrow and asking them to bar LT from ever being inducted in the HOF.

After all, his record setting TD season is built on lies, 15 of his 28 TDs came within 5 yards!

SHAM!

And right around a third of his yardage has come when Bama is up 2 or more touchdowns late in the second half. Look at the N Tex., Ole Miss and UF games if you want to see what I am talking about.

At least they are consistent though. Bama was play-actioning for a TD with :45 left yesterday. Wanted to make sure things were in hand.

Oh, and if we are talking RB's Montee Ball deserves the trophy. He is better in every statistical category and his team has two losses on hail mary's on the last play of the game. That's not the Rb's fault.

I remember back when "he gets stronger in the second half" and "they wear you down and make room for the backs in the second half" were considered good things. Now it just shows how overrated you are.

Haha this thread is giving me a headache. It's so ridiculous I refuse to believe the OP is serious. I'm gonna tap out of this and move on to the "Va Tech is the most deserving" thread.

I think other fans overestimate how much we care about the Heisman. I hope Trent wins but its not going to ruin my day if he doesn't.

I wouldn't have a problem if Robert Griffin won, for example. frick Monte Ball though

If someone wants to make an argument about short TDs and being a product of an OL, Ball should be the target...

Getting better as the game goes on is a good thing. The game is tight, but the back keeps churning, eventually just grinding the opponent out. That is one thing.

The knock isn't against Trent - he is great runner - but just putting stats in perspective. Getting huge chunks of yards when you are up 17 on a hapless Ole Miss team or up 27 on N. Texas doesn't show anything about being the most outstanding player in the country. And if you look at Trent without his pure garbage yardage (he has 247 yds. when Bama is up 17+ in the second half) he is a 1130 yd back rather than a 1380 yd back. Big difference. He is very good - but I don't think he is the most outstanding player in CFB.

FWIW, I was strongly anti-Tebow in 2007 and thought McFadden deserved the Heisman. Tebow's TD numbers were BS but everyone ignored it because they loved him.

Just proving that Weeden, Wilson, Keenum, and others have put up more impressive REAL stats than easy punch ins.

Sure when you play teams that only care about shootouts, it's pretty easy to pad your stats.

You make the mistake of assuming that they actually know what the frick they are talking about.

2009 wasn't THAT long ago. These are the same arguments that LSU and Auburn fans brought out when it looked like Ingram might win the Heisman. Surely you remember.

And he is the least impressive Heisman winner of the past decade. Really tearing it up in the league ain't he?

"The League"...Really? Who gives a frick about that? Why should that factor AT ALL?

How is "more deserving" Gerhart doing in "The League"...?

It's not so much a factor as just evidence that validates what everyone said at the time. That he wasn't that great a RB - his numbers were a product of his line and good opportunities (i.e. punching it in from short), etc. etc.

And my argument was for Suh. He has done well.

I guess Aaron Rodgers should be retroactively awarded the Heisman then...since future NFL performance is to be considered.

In that case, I anxiously await the delivery of Derrick Thomas' Heisman...

100% agree

he's been outstanding this season. Dude has 30 TDs with 2, possibly 3, games left. Crazy.

Now you are playing dumb. Shocking. I never said that future NFL performance should be a factor in determining who wins the Heisman. Certainly there are some great college players whose skill set don't translate to the NFL game (Eric Crouch comes to mind). However, if there is any position that does directly translate it would be a bruising running back in a, wait for it, pro-style offense. I merely mentioned MI's NFL stuff as a mechanism for us to revisit and evaluate whether the criticisms levied against him were valid. And it appears they are.
