Short answer: no
Long answer: no, the o-line will be the downfall. Kelly will still make plays but in critical moments it wont be enough.

I agree.
I think last year was a better shot than this year.
You never know though.
Ole Miss has been doing really well under Freeze.

Came within one play last year and should be better. Of course they do. It's all about the schedule though and ours is tough. Luckily we play Bama and UGA at home and are usually pretty competitive in Tiger stadium, even with lesser teams. The Key for Ole Miss will be nailing down both road games at TAMU and Arky. I believe we split lsu/Bama and win all the others.

Knowing good and damn well, at the time, you thought Bama's chance of NCG and SECCG were over after that loss.

I think we have a chance, but smart money would say Bama or LSU. Kelly is the best returning SEC qb, but Bama and LSU return so much talent on the defensive side of the ball, it will take a lot more than Kelly to beat them. Our offensive line is losing the best lineman we have ever had and also lost the best receiver in school history. Those are big losses. Getting Bama at home will help and the fact it will be the first big SEC game on the road for Barnett gives us a little advantage, but Bama has the revenge factor going and Nick Saban. I think LSU is the most talented team in the nation so as long as their QB can just be competent, they will make a run at the National Championship. SEC West is just a monster. IF we were in the East I'd say will be in Atlanta, but Bama and LSU are two top 5 teams so we will have to get lucky.

should be better
I love this new strategy by OM fans.

All things being equal, we have a more experienced QB. We should be better. Four year composite recruiting rankings of this team is around nine. That's never been the case here in my lifetime. Recruiting well is a good strategy, IMO.

All things being equal, you lose a shite load of talent to the draft and graduation. Saying you will be better in 2016 is ignorant.
LSU fans did it in 2013 & 2014.

We lost a class with a composite rating of 45. And three other players. Two of them at position groups we WILL MOST DEFINITELY BE BETTER AT overall. The other missed most of our games last year, including two of our losses. The lowest rated class on campus is 15.

Keep talking about recruiting rankings if it makes you feel better. It won't change the fact that OM is going to be replacing 6 players out of the front 7 and 2 on the back end. Not to mention the best tackle in the country, the starting RB and 2 very good receivers.

Sure they have a chance. Great QB, great WRs, solid defense, relatively easy schedule comparatively (UGA at home, @ Vandy)
vs Alabama
vs Georgia
vs Auburn
vs State
@ Arkansas
@ LSU
@ A&M
@ Vandy
It will all come down to depth, as usual for Ole Miss, IMHO.

I would be very hesitant to call their defense solid next year. They are losing a lot of players from an underwhelming defense.

I think, like most years, they have solid defensive play the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the year and then attrition takes its toll and things really take a turn.
Could be wrong, though.

let's see, last year's starting dline of Haynes/Nkemdiche/Jones/Brown loses one guy. His backup was dominant and we return an all SEC guy in Gross from injury. Johnson and Gates were our starting LBs by year's end. Gates, the returner, was our team's leading tackler. We lose only two of our five secondary starters. The defense isn't dropping off. And that's not hoping. 4/5 top rushers return and the WR group will be overall the best we've ever had. Our most significant oline loss missed the majority of the games last year. I'm not saying we will be better as a whole, just that we aren't going to be any worse. So, all things being equal we should be a better team with a more experienced QB.

Well, if you want to use QB experience as a reason their offense will be better, even though they are losing their top WR/OL/RB, then you have to say they are going to take a couple of steps back on defense because of a lack of returning experience.

I would say yeah they do.

Our defense was noticeably worse when Tony Connor went down. Thank god he is back now ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)
