you were the one saying "he's never coached in the south, much less the southeast" like it mattered

Yea that talent is really going to scare our top 5 class! Anchored Down.

I just wonder if we are going to have a longer streak than the 80-2004 run.

They're going to be rebuilding that defense next year. But great person to get it started.

Your classes have been better than Vandy the last 2 years as well. This hire is a good one. Vandy is slowly climbing out of the depths of the SEC and becoming a respectable program.

No...not really

2013
Vandy - 19th
TN - 21st

2012
TN - 19th
VU - 27th

Anything before that isn't worth looking at because Dooley couldn't develop anyone and all those guys are gone or passed up.

The fact that TN actually has a staff that is going to stay together, will actually develop our players for the first time since the early 2000's and is recruiting top 5 talent is not good for the SEC East.

Your dissing Vandy for being ranked 67th yet UT was slapped by Vandy 2 years in a row. And your attempting to use recruiting rankings to justify your slap. Ron Zook recruited well too. We see how that worked out. Vandy is earning respect. Deal with it.

They earned respect with their previous staff who were fantastic. They even had to have a tremendously down UGA, UF and TN along with the easiest OOC schedules I've ever seen to have 8 and 9 win seasons.

Vandy is about to head back to the cellar quickly.

I will gladly admit I am wrong with they win 9 games again in the next 3 years.

Watch out, I could certainly see them becoming good enough to be a team that wins 9 on occasion. It may not happen over night but they are proven that they are willing to spend enough to be competitive. If Mason can recruit Vandy will do well. Kentucky is also becoming a team thats recruiting decent. The SEC east has alot of parity and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out but I wouldn't just expect to roll over them based on recruiting rankings.

With 2013 marking his fourth season on the Stanford staff, Derek Mason is Stanford’s Willie Shaw Director of Defense.
Stanford announced in April of 2013 that its defensive coordinator position had been endowed by a generous gift from an anonymous donor, named in honor of Willie Shaw, the former Cardinal defensive coordinator and father of head coach David Shaw.

Is this a Pac 12 thing?

If Mason does in three years what Franklin did, I think folks can handle it. Vanderbilt hadn't had back to back winning seasons since 1974 and 1975. Remember, unlike the old days when Eddie Fogler wanted to talk to the chancellor about staying before he went to South Car, Vandy offered Franklin a ton of money.
