He's got a pretty good situation really. Petrino wasn't fired for fricking up anything on the field.

No doubt this is Dooley's year to put up or shut up but this will also be a year that he doesn't have freshman playing at virtually every position. Like I said he has handled everything with class which is a lot more than I can say for our last coach or "Motorcycle Bobby"

Nothing on his resume when he was hired suggested that he should be at the helm of a top 10 program of all time.
And he has clearly shown that he's not capable of doing so
He has had two rebuilding jobs.
First 3 years of Brady Hoke at Ball State- 10-24
First 3 years of Al Golden at Temple- 10-26
First 3 years of Derek Dooley at La Tech - 17-20

I agree. 10 year contract extension needed. He's not Mike Shula at all.

Congrats. You just compared UT to CUSA and Big East schools.

Kiffin came into a mess and left it much worse than he got it. Dooley is a good coach. People wanting him gone are retarded. At least recognize the situation before labeling him a bad coach, ya know.

If he is given the appropriate time, I predict that tenn will be the premier team in the east. I don't see Florida bouncing back to what they were just yet. UGA will be like last year as long as richt is coaching and spurrier will sprinkle some decent teams here and there. The east is up for the taking and I think tenn gets there sooner than the rest.

There were no signs of La Tech improving under Dooley.

How is that comparing UT to CUSA and Big East schools? People criticize Dooley from his record and i gave you examples of rebuilding jobs.
First 3 years of Rich Brooks @ Oregon 8-24
First 3 years of Rich Brooks @ UK 6-27
First 3 years of Frank Beamer @ Vtech 11-21-1

He didn't inherit situations remotely related to those jobs. And none of those programs have the prestige that programs like UT does (or did have).

He took over a 3 win La Tech team and led them to their first bowl win in over 20 years.
