I too think Dooley gets an unfair beating, he inherited a mess, sadly the natives seem so restless, he needs to win 8 games to ensure he will be on the sidelines at UT in 2013

Nothing on his resume when he was hired suggested that he should be at the helm of a top 10 program of all time.
And he has clearly shown that he's not capable of doing so.

But he did beat Vandy last year and the Vols were an underdog in that game.

Nor does Bill O'Brien but shite happens, Kiffin & Sandusky are the villians

Dooley has improved the roster quite a bit imo.
I do believe people underestimated how bad the situation he walked into was, but on gamedays he looks very lost.

He's had, what, 2 seasons? And with the mess he inherited? It takes time to climb out of a hole.

Well at least your kids know how to shower now. Without Dooley no telling what hygiene would be like in there by now.

How do you think Derek Dooley would do with Alabama or LSU talent?
Posted on 4/14/12 at 10:02 pm to semotruman
Dooley 1st two years at a major program not much different in so far as record as Nick Saban's 1st two years @ Michigan State

I sure hope you didn't major in language arts.

SO what you're saying is Dooley needs to upgrade to another school where he can bring in better talent, that already resides in his backyard?

No what I am saying is that after two years at Michigan State we did not know Nick Saban would become Nick Saban

I agree.. as much as you want to post judgements, you really never know. Dooley 'could' be that next coach, but seeing as most UT fans are and have been looking for a way to get rid of him its hard to see him succeeding.

I lived life long enough to know that is no such thing as a sure thing, from afar it looks like Dooley is doomed but it looked that way for Saban @ Michigan State and Gary Pinkel @ Missouri

I like CDD a lot but I am wondering if he isn't in over his head a little like Shula was at Alabama. UT is a bigtime program and he went from little league to primetime and it hasn't happened for him yet.
