Weed isn't legal in Louisiana. And if they were in the park after the posted curfew for the park, there is reason to search the car.

It's okay to be happy about them getting out of trouble. But there isn't any reason to make shite up.

The Cali judge's misstep is much more egregious, but it does help the argument that Louisiana doesn't have a monopoly on idiot public officials.

Also, one was a "victimless" crime. The other most decidedly wasn't.

So the DA didn't want to drag these two upstanding citizens through the mud and tarnish their reputations by pursuing obviously bogus charges backed by insufficient (at best) and illegal (at worst) "evidence." He should be commended as the protector of justice that he is. The easy route would have been to go through with a trial to attempt to give the locals their pound of flesh, but instead he chose the difficult path of honesty and integrity.

DA is a da if he said any of that, but I don't think this case is a big deal and not prosecuting them isn't wrong. This is pretty typical.

Spoke to attorney for Cam Robinson & Hootie Jones & he indicated DA declined to prosecute b/c initial arrest stemmed from "improper" search.

Illegal search and seizure.

Police report said officer smelled weed and saw gun on Hooties lap... Which gives PD cause to search.

If it was improper search then it would say improper search not insufficient evidence.

This is the same police that conducted the illegal search and seizure. Their credibility is shot.

It's not illegal search with probable cause. What country do you live in?

Just more evidence of Louisiana protecting its own. DA didn't want to ruin the lives of the idiot police officers by calling out their illegal search, because they work outside sometimes too.
