"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," district attorney Jerry Jones told KNOE-TV.

Yeah dude needs to be called out on that reasoning for sure. It must have been hard to come up with something so stupid to say.

Wrong.

Spoke to attorney for Cam Robinson & Hootie Jones & he indicated DA declined to prosecute b/c initial arrest stemmed from "improper" search.

Illegal search and seizure.

If they really said that, I think that DA should be brought up on charges. Seriously.

The Cali judge's misstep is much more egregious, but it does help the argument that Louisiana doesn't have a monopoly on idiot public officials.

I mean damn, if you don't want to charge them because you don't think you can win, or you really don't want to ruin one kids chance of getting drafted, that's cool. But think of a better excuse.

Then these individuals proceeded to frick it up and break the law with serious charges. I wish they were held to the same standards as everyone else in Monroe. I have plenty of buddies who've been arrested for simple poss, dwi, and never had a chance for their charges to drop.

What's funny is that Bama's indoor practice facility is air conditioned.

The only possible charge was possession of a stolen firearm, and that was easily explainable, traceable, and likely turned up no evidence of a crime. And the weapon was likely found from an illegal search of the car. Nothing else was a crime.

The intent of the police on the initial stop and search was going to be in serious question in court. It was going to come out that there was likely this... "oh.. there are two big black guys sitting in a car I think we should roust them and see what we can find..." It was not going to go well for the Monroe police or the DA and he knew it... and he then took the best lame high road out of dodge.

What is funny is seeing all the LSU denizens whining like babies while begging for anything against these lads, who are now not guilty of anything other than leaving Louisiana. That is truly sad.
