I think it's ignorance, pure & simple. Do any search of "top large cities," and it's likely that both will be on the list--they're both great cities (Houston & Dallas).

Even if you prefer one to the other, to call either a "shithole" is disingenuous.

Houston, Dallas is really a concrete Jungle. Due to zoning it looks more appealing on the surface but it really is a SH!thole once you get past the facade. As others have stated, you can stay in Downtown Houston, catch the Light rail to the stadium then party in Midtown on the way back as Midtown is in-between the stadium and downtown accessible by rail.

If you are going to Dallas, stay in Fort Worth. It has a better vibe to it, doesn't have a lot of douchebags

FT Worth is home to guys in jacked up trucks who wear Affliction shirts...but only Dallas has douche bags...

I went to the LSU/Oregon game & the LSU/TCU game in Dallas and it's such a cluster to get to/from Arlington to Dallas before/after the game. I stayed uptown with a friend who goes to SMU and the commute was miserable. However thankfully uptown is where most LSU students ended up going out anyways. Arlington is a concrete jungle but Jerry World is badass

In saying that, I'll be in Reliant and Lambeau for both games. Can't wait

I really want to go to game at Lambeau. Just seems like it would be an awesome experience.

Houston is set up to make it easy to get from the bar districts to the stadium.

Dallas, not so much.

I used to live in Dallas (IN actual DALLAS) and traveled a lot to Houston. IMO Dallas is the more appealing city overall. But the stadium is in Arlington there, so you are going to be fighting traffic to and from. Unless you choose to get a hotel in Arlington, and if you do that you should just watch the game on TV.

Reliant is closer to the "real city", and is easier to access via public transit. I just feel like Dallas is a safer and classier city in a lot of ways, though. Its been several years since I did anything in Houston other than a quick business trip, though.

This. As someone who has lived in both cities and attended games at both stadiums, the drive to arlington just isn't worth it. Plus you'll actually have a chance to beat LSU.

Didn't read thread, but Houston is the armpit of Texas.

They both have their positives and negatives. Both areas have major traffic, impressive downtowns- especially Houston, and endless restaurants, clubs and bars. Dallas has better public trans-DART and Houston has more cultural diversity. But both have a lot of everything.

When they first announced that the game wasn't going to be at Camp Randall I was pissed, but I stopped bitching when Lambeau came up.

Also, if Houston is the armpit of Texas, and Dallas is the butthole, what is Lubbock? I'll hang up and listen.

Jeff Davis ... Ags do this constantly (argue Dallas v Houston). It's ridiculous, but never seems to stop.

As for Lubbock: It's the diseased gallbladder that needs to be removed yesterday.
