Don't compare Houston and Chicago.

Chi-town is miles better than anything in Texas.

GTFO. Chicago is where you go to get your guns taken away and then shot later that day.

If you are going to Dallas, stay in Fort Worth. It has a better vibe to it, doesn't have a lot of douchebags

Dallas is much better, Houston is a shite hole and you better learn Spanish if you go to Houston.

Sorry, I should have clarified that I do know the game against Alabama will be in Arlington!

If we chose to go to the game in Houston, would staying within the city be OK?

If we chose to go to the game in Dallas, would staying in the city center be applicable? Or is much of the nightlife outside of the city in the surrounding area?

The game is obviously priority numero one, but as stated in my original post, also want to make sure we enjoy our weekend outside the confines of each stadium.

I currently live in Chicago (about 140 miles south of Madison), so I'm in complete understanding how spatial cities can be!

Wish a home-and-home could work with both programs. Would love to see games at Bryant-Denny and Death Valley! Would also have loved to see both fan bases in Madison.

Comes in pretty handy in Dallas, too.

Dallas (as a whole) is a better city than Houston but neither stadium is in a great area. Reliant is substantially closer to the nightlife aspect of things, so I would choose that if I were you. The nightlife in both cities is probably the same though.

I used to live in Dallas (IN actual DALLAS) and traveled a lot to Houston. IMO Dallas is the more appealing city overall. But the stadium is in Arlington there, so you are going to be fighting traffic to and from. Unless you choose to get a hotel in Arlington, and if you do that you should just watch the game on TV.

Reliant is closer to the "real city", and is easier to access via public transit. I just feel like Dallas is a safer and classier city in a lot of ways, though. Its been several years since I did anything in Houston other than a quick business trip, though.

Yes, you can take the light rail straight from downtown to the stadium and then back to downtown or midtown for the bars.

Houston is the most generic, sprawling, soulless town in the nation.

There is no easier way to spot an absolute moron than this statement. Truly.

Houston will give you a better tailgating experience, Dallas a better stadium experience. For Houston, the distance between the stadium and party areas is much smaller, so less distance to travel,

Both will be awesome experiences.

Been to Dallas for LSU vs. Oregon in 2011. Depends on how much time you plan on spending in the area. The stadium is nice, but other than that the outside scene was a disappointment. Concrete desert. For a short stay I can't say that Dallas is going to be that great especially if you're spending most of the time in Arlington.
I plan on going to the Houston game, and I know nothing of Reliant Stadium. So take my advice for what it's worth.

Dallas is ate up with the douche. It's comical. Like you get douchebag discounts throughout the city and every douchebag in the country hears of this and flocks to the city.

Eta:

The beat part of how this discussion will go is that concert jungle will ignorantly be thrown out describing Houston, and yet you will be on the verge of heat exhaustion in Dallas by the stadium, since it's a 5 square mile shadeless parking lot.

Stay in downtown Ft. Worth. Plenty of bars and a couple of nice steakhouses. Some nice places to stay as well. Then make the 20 minute drive to Jerruh world.
