Tuscaloosa is not a bad town. Some very pretty lakes/good golf within an hour/legit industry(Mercedes Benz) / Tuscaloosa Amphitheatre/ downtown is growing into a pretty good bar scene.
It does have a distinct "ghetto" and crime is always a concern in a southern city of its size.
I used to date a girl from Auburn and spent some time there. It's nice but much more low key than Tuscaloosa.

Auburn has been rated a top rated city in many publications, ttown not so much, both offer a good education..
Bama facilities are some of the best, great tradition, terrible fans, great HC.

Campus wise, Auburn's is nicer. Crime rate is lower in Auburn. Tuscaloosa is a lot more ghetto than Auburn.
Auburn has the Robert Trent Jones Grand National Golf Course, Lake Martin is only 35-40 minutes away, the Kia plant is only 25 minutes away on I-85.

guys I'm just the messenger. you're biased, I'm biased, but cowherd is a disinterested third party and an esteemed national media pundit. I thought his opinion on this matter was worthy of discussion. you gotta admit, he makes a strong argument.
