What is the 5th sport Auburn has won a national title in?
They have 1 in women's outdoor track and field.

Over/Under on how many Bama posters in this thread even realized their golf team was good this year.

One stroke from winning it all last year. #1 golf recruit coming in next year. Richard Todd's son was on team a couple of years ago, Davis Love 3's son is part of team now. What else do you want to know?

lolno, NCAA doesn't recognize an official football champion nor sponsor a tournament or playoff to decide an official champ. I'm not taking away from the football titles though, since football is king, but there's a reason they're called MNC's
I know you're a bit challenged when it comes to logic, so I'll try to explain very slowly.
The 120 member schools of the NCAA that are members of the BCS recognize all three of Alabama's BCS championships as national championships.
So anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that it's pretty stupid to say that the NCAA doesn't "recognize" the BCSCG winner as the national champion, when the fact of the matter is that all 120 NCAA FBS members certainly do recognize the winner as such by virtue of their mutual membership in the BCS. No one really gives a shite whether or not the NCAA logo is on the trophy...the 120 schools that are members of both the BCS and the NCAA agree that the winner of the BCSCG is the national champion, and there's nothing mythical about that.

true.... NCAA recognized (as in they have it on their official website) is different from an NCAA Title (as in being given a trophy saying NCAA National Champion).
Alabama has 13 football titles recognized by the NCAA, but none of them are sanctioned (as in the NCAA didn't declare you a champion, an outside source did, in this case the BCS). Odd situation really.
So it's by NCAA recognition, this is Alabama's 14th Men's title and first NCAA sanctioned Men's title....
either way Roll Tide!

Calm down, bro
Sanctioned is what I was aiming at. Get your panties out of a wad. When people ask me who won the football NC in 2012, I will say Alabama. I'm not retarded in that sense. Everyone will "recognize" Bama as the champs last year. It was a tounge-in-cheek post referring to the fact there's no tournament playoff style in place yet, and therefore no official champion. There's no need for tldr responses.

And where is it etched in stone that a sport has to have a tournament playoff style in place to crown a champion? You might want to let the folks running the English Premier League, among others, that they're doing it all wrong.
Once again...all 120 members of the NCAA FBS recognize the winner of the BCSCG as the "official" national champion, even if there's no NCAA logo on the trophy.

I knew we were pretty dang good because of last year, when we were runners up to Texas. I haven't followed close enough to know we were still playing at that level, to be honest. Outside of football season I don't follow many of the athletics, even the ones we're good at, until tournament time.

No shite. It's not getting through to you that my post was very tounge-in-cheek. You must not be used to my posting style. That post was done in humor. I already said everyone, myself included, will recognize Alabama as national champions of the 2012 football season.
It was your school's first sanctioned championship in a Men's sport if you want to get technical with it or if that sounds better to you. Even an Alabama fan in the thread on y'all's own board said this was your school's first NCAA sanctioned men title. But like I already said, you're making the post a much bigger deal than what it really was. .

I googled men's college golf out of curiousity. I was impressed by LSU's history. According to records LSU has won or shared 4 national titles. They were mostly in the 30s and 40s but that's still impressive.

Won in dominating fashion 4-1.
Looks like Bama's a golf school too. (and a Softball school and a Gymnastics School and a Football School).
Bama won the Women's golf National Title last year too.

Congrats.
We have at least Top Five caliber programs every year in Football, Baseball, Men's and Women's Track, Gymnastics, Softball, Women's Basketball....and Top 20 programs in Golf, Tennis, Swimming, with Men's Basketball to join them in 2013-14.

I think the Tide and some other SEC schools also.
LSU has been pretty successful in golf on an individual basis. I think a couple of years ago both the men's and women's individual champions were LSU Tigers.
Several Tiger alumni are doing great on the PGA tour.
