I know completely different systems require different personnel, but I wonder how Petrino would have done the next year if the motorcycle thing hadn't happened.

First, that is wrong

We understand where this program was when he took over. I don't think any fanbase outside of Arkansas quite understands this. Petrino literally left the program in the sewer. Just as he did at Louisville when he left prior. They used Kragthorpe to mend the gap between Petrino and Strong. Kragthorpe had a very bad record at Louisville and mainly for the same issues we had at Arkansas.

Arkansas lost 25+ players due to arrest, kicked off team, transfer, or ineligibility after Petrino left.

He was THAT close to a 5-7 regular season

He was also THAT close to a 10 win season as well. 1 point loss to State. 4 point loss to Toledo(while dominating the game).

Bobby Petrino has had one losing season in 12 years of coaching. Seeing as it was players he recruited for his style of play, it's safe to say a helluva lot better than smiley.

I am sure he would have done better than John L Smith in 2012...but after that it would not have been very good. Petrino succeeded at Arkansas off of one recruiting class and having Mallet transfer in from Michigan. His recruiting had slacked off and we had no defense.

Bert had to sell out recruiting WRs just so we had formidable ones on roster.

The current SEC west landscape is a totally different animal than what we faced back then

Especially since the program was in decent shape when he arrived. Petrino had consecutive double digit win years.

And I'm sure Baylor will be fine in the next couple of years, after all they were winning double digit games and had Seth Russell and Jarrett Stidham in the QB pipeline last year

He doesn't get on the hot seat unless he goes 6-6 or worse this year. 7-5, with 5 SEC losses might get his seat a little warm too.

It was Ford's record. It's been fixed. But the win% was correct, and its below .500

That's pathetic.

Notre Dame would be another Nebraska, if not for their ability to recruit based on their religious affiliation. That's about the only thing keeping them afloat. That and very good academics.

Its not pathetic when you can comprehend what he inherited at Arkansas.

The only thing pathetic right now is your attempt at whatever it is you're trying to do.

How is it that a coach in Year 4 can be one game below .500, by virtue of barely beating Louisiana Tech at home by a a score of 21-20, and everyone think he's doing some bang up job?

It's literally been explained thousands of times. You are a fricking moron.

You can point out his "trajectory" all you want

Uh, yeah. It seems like a pretty good thing to point out. It's almost like seeing improvement every year is a good thing. Crazy, I know.

Dude, it's the SEC. Most games are decided by single digits. I guess we should fire him because that 8-5 record is a lie and he should've gone 5-7 because he didn't blow everyone out

Its sort of creepy. He seems to be pretty fair and easy going with every other team in the SEC but for some reason he has the oddest obsession with Bert and Arkansas.

We could be discussing the local craft beer scene in Fayetteville and he would appear to lay out the case to fire Bielema. He might need therapy.
