I know this. Which is why I'm perfectly okay with beating an overrated #2 Auburn's arse.

And tears, apparently.
We were ranked much lower than 26 last year and I believe Auburn was ranked top 5. How'd that turn out?

38-23
Let the tears roll.

TCU and Baylor won't be able to sustain their level of success over the long haul.

I consider this statement to be substantial progress, as you are admitting TCU and Baylor have had success by implication.

Both teams ended up being overrated by seasons end. When all you have to do is beat your cross state rival to get into the playoff and you fall short, you are not ready for prime time.

Paul Finebaum ?@finebaum
Alabama's No. 3 ranking in the preseason coaches poll is the lowest start for Nick Saban since the 2009 season when Alabama went 14-0.

I'm assuming if LSU starts 3-0, they'll jump into the top 6 or 7.

Well yeah, I would think. That would be a massive accomplishment for LSU.

True which is why I'm an advocate of not releasing a poll until week 4. These polls are strictly for ratings and clicks

This poll and the AP poll mean diddly. The real poll doesn't get released until several weeks into the season.

I'm with you on preseason polls though. They are absolute garbage. My favorite poll is ran by Colley. He's very fair in the way he ranks teams. Nobody gets head starts with this preseason junk. Everyone starts equally. His only flaw is his lack of weighting when it comes to head to head. Needs more emphasis there but his poll is probably the fairest poll out there.

You'll get a true non biased measure of where your team really should be ranked during the season.

Here is the best preseason poll...

LINK

He's got Auburn ranked #1 and I like it.

Best ranking in history for a team on a four game losing streak vs. FBS teams.

Playing for national titles tends to give programs the benefit of the doubt. Try it sometime.

Talk about fall from grace. Last season was #1 for a pretty good time, start of this season out of Top 25.

It's obvious Saban has slipped, he's losing it, he's washed up and needs to retire pronto.

We get it, you're a dumbass. You can stop posting this in every thread now. A team with 4 SEC wins in 3 years should consider themselves lucky that they're even getting attention in the offseason

Bama plays 7 teams on the top 25 preseason poll. They play 4 teams in top 15. A&M has a chance to get up there, too. Could be a tough year for Bama. Might lose as many as 3 games. Then again, may go undefeated against a very tough schedule like 2009.

Can't wait for the season to start so the speculation based on last year ends and speculation based on a limited amount of games this year begins.

I'm fine with being unranked given that we play the #16 team in week 1. We'll know right away whether or not we are a top 25 caliber team and if we win we'll jump into the top 20.

Starting the season unranked only hurts you if you play 3-4 straight cupcakes to start and don't have a chance to prove anything until late September.

Anybody paying attention over the past 7 seasons knows Alabama pretty much deserves a top 5 preseason ranking by default until something happens to say otherwise.

Can't disagree with this at all. This is the type of team that Saban will run the freaking table with.
