if mac still had grier things would be a lot different in gainesville. hell, if del rio was healthy you guys would only have one loss.
just look around the country at teams not playing with their best qb, one at fsu in particular. franks is either gonna take time, or just doesn't have it.

I think firing him after this year would be fairly imprudent and impulsive. Its true that his tenure has been somewhat underwhelming, but that's in part because FLA is still coming off of the Meyer years when they were looking like the best program in the country. But the bottom line is he has gotten FLA to the SEC championship in his first two years, and has won 9 games in each of his first two seasons.
The worrisome thing is the fact that he is supposed to be an offensive minded guy yet the offense seems to be a major part of FLA's problems the past couple seasons. However, I do think that FLA is just one QB away from being a serious contender. Will Mac find or develop that guy is the question. Maybe Franks will be it but it is just taking time.
Also, another mitigating factor is the fact that FLA has been quite snakebitten with injuries not just this season but last season. I mean last year they were playing without half their defensive starters at one point iirc. This year is turning out to be similar with the suspensions on top of the injuries. Offensive inuries: Cleveland, Toney, Del Rio (Callaway and Scarlet susp)
Defesive injuries: Sherit, Nick Washington, Zuniga, Moon
And that's just what I can recall off the top of my head. I was reading that with the suspensions and injuries they are down like 21 scholarship players. I know its next man up and everything and you still have to get the guys that can play prepared, but that type of attrition would have a negative effect on any team.
Another concern, and maybe FLA fans can speak to this more, has been his recruiting. From what I can gather it hasn't been great thus far but I've heard that his recruiting class this year is coming along really well.
Long story short, I think he deserves at least one more year to get things in order and see what he can do. I really think the QB position is the key for FLA and if they find the right guy then they will be dangerous.

Florida has the most unorthodox, disgusting fans hands down... been to the WLOCP since 1979 as a child and can tell you the overall picture I’ve gleaned in my time there has been UF fans acting like idiots. I was there in 1980 when some Florida fan ran his car into the Gator Bowl. So I’m really not sure what you’re talking about and why those things didn’t make the news?

He came from a small school to a major program and he is struggling. He isn't used to the recruiting wars he has to face in the SEC.
He has a lot to learn, and MIGHT make a good coach, but he has a long way to go. No, I don't think you are unreasonable to want him gone, but Florida should be hiring a proven head coach and not rolling the dice. yes, I realize Georgia rolled the dice, too. I've never understood why major programs feel a need to roll the dice, though.

Mac had some hype when UF hired him. I think hiring a proven guy from a power 5 program would be very costly and I am not sure there is a lot of them out their with a lot of experience. To me Justin Fuentes at VT has done good at a smaller school and a power 5 school. I am more concerned with Macs offense then his recruiting. If the offense started playing up to its potential then recruiting would improve. It's also easier to hire coaches who are good recruiters like he has since the original staff .

He's getting what he deserves.

If he coached my team I'd want him gone.
Yeah I understand he's been there only 3 years, yeah I understand he's won the east twice.
Here's the thing, in no season what so ever have I thought that Florida was on the way back to the spurrier/Meyer days.
They have always looked like shite, always, they barely beat teams they should handle and lose to teams that they are predicted to lose against.
That's the type of coach Mac is.
I mean think about it, you guys are a handful of plays away right now from only having 1 win. Y'all needed a huge busted coverage to beat a really bad Tennessee team, and needed twobusted coverages to beat Kentucky.
But don't get me wrong, I hope y'all keep him. I hope the administration listens to the pro Mac guys from the Florida board. Nothing would make me happier to see Florida piss itself back to the pre spurrier days of irrelevancy.
