Of course he was, it was a good get. He was just one of the rawest players I had seen in college.

Or I'm pretty sure he's just a massive piece of shite that was magnified by being somewhere the media and fans are always watching.

We've done the drunk coach before. Sutton might've cheated his arse off but he wasn't abusive. Miller, Harrellson, and even Meeks was far from entitled. Blaming them is a cop out for not recognizing that despite however rosy things were at A&M, he did some borderline criminal shite to players at UK and was rightfully fired for it.

The best Billy Gillispie story has yet to be mentioned. He'd make Perry Stevenson eat an entire box of Pop Tarts every day before practice to bulk him up .

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I don't think we'll ever know everything that happened but there's been plenty that's come out that suggests he's an utter piece of shite.

Who was the kid that he made sit in the bathroom stall for an entire practice because he didn't like the way he was practicing?

ETA: Found it!

Perhaps the most legendary of the Gillispie moments occurred during a game at Vanderbilt during the 2008-09 season, when he ordered Harrellson to listen to halftime instructions in a bathroom stall.

What passes for "abusive" with millennials is what used to be called "coaching." This country is so soft. We're screwed unless Trump saves us from ourselves.

JUCO transfer Josh Harrellson.

If you ever want to get into a discussion of player development under Cal, he single-handedly saved his and Darius Miller's basketball careers after Gillispie.

Yeah, that's what I've heard from my UK friend.

When you attempt to make a player with a concussion walk from an arena to a hotel miles down the road, you're an abusive piece of shite. That has nothing to do with good coaching.

Sounds to me like they grow 'em soft in Kentucky.

Miller was literally scared to shoot the ball and he was a very good shooter pre-Gillispie. I'll never forget him passing up a game winning three against Ole Miss and Cal basically having to tell him it was now or never.

Concussions are such a millennial obsession. Par for the softness course. Back when men were still men it was called getting your bell rung and you were expected to suck it up and keep going. Sounds like this kid needed a lesson in toughness that most Kentuckians could benefit from as well!

Maybe one of these days you can win something in a sport that someone cares about.

That is nothing compared to what went down in Junction.

By the way, Ranger JC is 20-0 on the year, except that they had to forfeit four games because one of their players, a guy who rarely played, had signed a LOI to a JC in another state. The other school released the player, but it turned out the paperwork releasing the player was incomplete. It got corrected, but it cost them 4 games.
