Well, since he probably knew where his mom and the rest of his family were sitting, and that would likely be where his dad would have shown up when the game ended, I'd say they odds were probably pretty good.

Ultimately, I go with the theory that Cecil told JJ he would stay away, then went anyway. In the end, all it means is that JJ was gullible and made a stupid statement to the press, and now looks like a fool.

He's still got to do something like that about 30 more times to challenge Housel's school record for gullibility/stupidity/foolishness. But it's a solid start.
