We all know that Nutt will likely be gone by the start of next year (I'd say its basically 100%), but what about Boone? I'm personally going with a 50% chance of being fired and a 10% chance of him resigning on his own free will.

How will you get rid of Nutt? You're a dumbarse if you think he walks away from that much guaranteed money unless his contract is bought. Who's gonna pay for that contract buyout... you Lt Weinberg?

Umm... Tell him he's fired then pay him his buyout. Why does everyone act like Ole Miss has no money?

Ummm, we fire him. Its pretty fricking simple. Boone however is much more difficult to eradicate than Nutt. Nutt is the flu. It sucks now, but we know we'll soon be over it. Boone is leukemia.

I don't think anyone believes Ole Miss has no money, but there's a difference between spending $6 million just to fire a guy, versus investing that $6 million into facilities, recruiting budget, stadium upgrades, etc.

I doubt Nutt will be gone by December due to his buyout, but you can bet your arse he'll be gone come early January. Boone though needs to leave before Nutt does.

Why not worry about beating Auburn?

now that OM has taken the gut shot to Boone, they need to track him down and finish the job. otherwise, no decent coaching candidates would think about coming to Oxford to work under an AD that is losing control of the situation.

You don't remember their 2003 western division championship?

Agree with this. If your AD is that fricked up (only OM fans would know the answer to this) then he is going to have to go before you can get a good coach. I honestly believe there are some good choices out there that would jump at the chance to come to the SEC and rebuild a struggling program, but a fricked up AD who is under the gun will scare them off.

Ole Miss, you do not want to hire a coach before you hire an AD...cart before horse and would lead to a poor situation IMO.

Moreover, you do not want to be looking for both an AD and coach at the same time.

I think there is validity to the argument that you have to do one or the other, but not both at the end of this football season.

I'm hearing Forward Rebels has some really interesting documents about Boone.

Some that'll make OM fans go batshit.

We can only hope that Boone is gone and takes the bear with him.

Pete Boone will not walk away. And he is in the " IN" crowd at Ole Piss. He will be at Ole Piss a long time........This is the last season for Nutt unless he wins the rest of his games.......

It is Ole Miss' ONLY hope. Boone out then new coach along with the new investments in the footbll program. The fan base in Mississippi are completely losing it. Kind of fun to watch!

I'm still leaning towards the end of the school year.

Nothing surprises me anymore though. I could see him resigning tomorrow. I could also see him staying in his AD spot for another decade.

In just a couple of months the UMAA has raised $50M (their final goal is $150M) to build a new basketball arena. I think we can find $6M somewhere.

(Actually, the money has already been ponied up by the Vaught Society so it's just a matter of when they plan on using it. My guess is that they're waiting to know if Boone's fired and/or if Houston Nutt's replacement will be worth a damn.)

It's not that easy. You have his buyout. Then you you have to payout the rest of his staffs' contract. Then whoever you get.....which in this case, Ole Miss fans think they can get a top coach or coordinator for whatever reason, you will have to match what you paid Nutt or little less. Plus you then have to pay that new staff. So in the end, it is a good bit more than $6 million.
