How are the rankings determined?
FBS Wins: Victories over FBS teams – no credit given for scheduling an FCS program.
Attendance Score: This is what funds everything else. It’s the average of the attendance divided by 1,000 for the score – average 21,698 fans per game over five years, get a score of 2.17.
Quality Wins: Wins over FBS teams that finished with winning records.
Elite Wins: Wins over FBS teams that finished with two losses or fewer, or on the road over teams that finished with three losses or fewer. An extra 0.5 added for a win over a two-loss team on the road. Bowls count, too.
Bad Losses: Losses to FCS teams or to FBS teams that finished with three losses or fewer. An extra 0.5 taken away from a Bad Loss at home.
Bad Wins Score: Wins over FCS teams or to FBS teams that finished with three losses or fewer. Score is -0.25 per Bad Win.
Elite Loss Score: Losses to teams that finished a season with two losses or fewer. Score is +0.25 per Elite Loss.
Conference Win %: Self-explanatory. Total records are taken from independent teams.
Draft Score: How many players were drafted by the NFL? Score is half the number of players drafted.
APR Score: The Academic Progress Rate. Score determined by an average of the last five years devised by 100.

Do we only have SEC stats? Who is top 10?
Posted on 8/8/17 at 5:55 pm to SummerOfGeorge
I knew when I read the title this was going to ugly, I'm a little surprised we're 53 and not in the 100s.

10. Florida
FBS Wins: 41
Attendance Score: 8.78
Quality Wins: 17
Elite Wins: 4
Bad Losses: 1.5
Bad Wins Score: 2.75
Elite Loss Score: 2.25
Conference Win %: 0.675
Draft Score: 17.5
APR Score: 9.734
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 96.68
Analysis: The two-time defending SEC East champ might not be the superstar it was in the Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer eras, but it’s still top ten-good. The Draft Score is tied for the second-best on the board, and the Attendance Score has perked up, but the 17 Quality Wins are the lowest among the top 17.

9. Michigan State
FBS Wins: 43
Attendance Score: 7.43
Quality Wins: 23
Elite Wins: 8
Bad Losses: 1
Bad Wins Score: 3
Elite Loss Score: 1.5
Conference Win %: 0.634
Draft Score: 7.5
APR Score: 9.684
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 96.75
Analysis: Even with a clunker of a 2016 season, this is still a top ten program after winning two Big Ten championships and coming up with an impressive 23 Quality Wins. The eight Elite Win score is the highest by anyone outside of the top four, and that’s a must with a mediocre – compare to the other star programs – Draft Score.
– 2017 Michigan State Preview
8. Notre Dame
FBS Wins: 43
Attendance Score: 8.28
Quality Wins: 23
Elite Wins: 4
Bad Losses: 1.5
Bad Wins Score: 2.5
Elite Loss Score: 1.5
Conference Win %: 0.672
Draft Score: 12
APR Score: 9.734
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 98.19
Analysis: Mock the Brian Kelly era all you want, but this is still an elite top ten program. There isn’t any one standout number, but they’re all solid across the board with 43 FBS wins and a 67% overall winning clip. Getting 24 players drafted doesn’t hurt, either.
– 2017 Notre Dame Preview
7. LSU
FBS Wins: 41
Attendance Score: 9.78
Quality Wins: 23
Elite Wins: 4.5
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 2.75
Elite Loss Score: 1.75
Conference Win %: 0.625
Draft Score: 17.5
APR Score: 9.474
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 104.88
Analysis: By far, the 41 FBS wins are the lowest by anyone in the top ten, and winning 63% of SEC games is a light number for a program ranked this high. Throw in the miserable APR, and it doesn’t make any sense – and then look at the Draft Score, Only Alabama has sent more players to the NFL Draft over the last five years.
– 2017 LSU Preview
6. Oklahoma
FBS Wins: 50
Attendance Score: 8.55
Quality Wins: 26
Elite Wins: 6.5
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 3
Elite Loss Score: 2
Conference Win %: 0.822
Draft Score: 12
APR Score: 9.616
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 112.49
Analysis: Win a slew of Big 12 championships, win 82% of your conference games, and your ranking is going to be high. The 50 FBS wins are the most by anyone outside of the top five – and by a mile – and the other scores are strong, too. What’s keeping OU out of the top five? Not much. By the slimmest of margins, it’s out – the APR just isn’t as strong as the No. 5.
– 2017 Oklahoma Preview
5. Stanford
FBS Wins: 52
Attendance Score: 4.72
Quality Wins: 30
Elite Wins: 6
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 2.75
Elite Loss Score: 1
Conference Win %: 0.756
Draft Score: 11
APR Score: 9.834
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 112.56
Analysis: Slightly forgotten when it comes to pointing out the college football superpowers, Stanford has more than held its own as the star of the Pac-12. It’s won 76% of its conference games with 30 Quality Wins and 52 FBS wins overall. The difference between fifth and being behind Oklahoma? The 9.834 APR is just enough to get into the penthouse.
– 2017 Stanford Preview
4. Florida State
FBS Wins: 53
Attendance Score: 7.67
Quality Wins: 32
Elite Wins: 9
Bad Losses: 1
Bad Wins Score: 3.75
Elite Loss Score: 1.25
Conference Win %: 0.850
Draft Score: 17.5
APR Score: 9.502
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 126.02
Analysis: While Clemson has become special, and others in the ACC have stepped up, Florida State has still been able to rock in conference play winning 85% of its games. The Draft Score is tied with Florida and LSU to be just behind Alabama, and the 32 Quality wins are the most outside of the top three teams. However, the one Bad Loss – the epic disaster to Georgia Tech in 2015 – is the only one among the top seven ranked teams.
– 2017 Florida State Preview
3. Clemson
FBS Wins: 55
Attendance Score: 8.20
Quality Wins: 34
Elite Wins: 10
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 4
Elite Loss Score: 1.5
Conference Win %: 0.875
Draft Score: 15
APR Score: 9.830
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 130.41
Analysis: Welcome to the elite of the elite. Going to two straight national championships – winning one – will do that, and winning 88% of the conference games certainly helps. The 34 Quality Wins are amazing, the 55 FBS wins are the most outside of Alabama, and the Draft Score is impressive. Dabo Swinney has turned Clemson into a powerhouse with staying power – and least that’s how it looks going into 2017.
– 2017 Clemson Preview
2. Ohio State
FBS Wins: 60
Attendance Score: 10.62
Quality Wins: 34
Elite Wins: 9
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 2.75
Elite Loss Score: 0.75
Conference Win %: 0.951
Draft Score: 16.5
APR Score: 9.746
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 138.82
Analysis: Even more than Alabama, Ohio State has the most FBS wins in college football over the last five years. There aren’t as many Quality Wins, but the Elite Win score is amazing, the Draft Score is phenomenal, and the Attendance Score – as always – is special. There’s no problem with anything on the board – everything is fine when you’re winning 95% of the conference games. The Buckeyes are miles ahead of the rest of the pack in the No. 2 spot, but they’re just not Alabama over the last five years.
– 2017 Ohio State Preview
1. Alabama
FBS Wins: 59
Attendance Score: 10.15
Quality Wins: 44
Elite Wins: 9.5
Bad Losses: 0
Bad Wins Score: 3.5
Elite Loss Score: 1.25
Conference Win %: 0.900
Draft Score: 20.5
APR Score: 9.780
Five-Year Program Analysis Score: 151.58
Analysis: You were expecting someone else? The only knock is the Bad Win score – playing the FCSers every year might be necessary, but that’s it. Everything else is fantastic, from the 41 players getting drafted, to winning 905 of SEC games – let that sink in for a wee moment – to the 44 Quality Wins, which by themselves would rank the Crimson Tide just outside of the top 80. The Process is working, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down

Season can not get here quick enough. The next list will factor in height and weight of the HC (Sorry Bama, Ark #1) or average weight of the fanbase (again sorry Bama).

We're in the top 25 at #24?! Hell, I'll take it for now.

#25 out of 130 teams puts SCAR in the top 20 percent, not too shabby.

Didn't expect to see us #10. This has been a painful stretch of 5 years, although really everything post-Meyer hasn't been pretty.

I was very surprised to see us this high considering 2011 had dropped off this ranking, but then you read this and realize it's a pretty dubious honor and calls attention to just how much we underperformed under Les towards the end.

It sure doesn't feel like we're 15, but we've never been bad and had one great year.
